Description
Mars Attacks Judge Dredd Variant Comics Lot
Writer: Al Ewing
Artist: John McCrea
Colorist: Jay Fotos
Letterers: Tom B. Long & Shawn Lee
Editor: Denton J. Tipton
All Subscription Variant Covers by: Greg Staples
Mars Attacks Judge Dredd is a fun, albeit mature, read as it handles the tone of both Dredd’s comics and the original 1960’s Topps Mars Attacks trading cards well. Blending graphic violence with a hefty dose of humor isn’t an easy line to walk, but it’s one the comic walks well. Monkey mobsters named Uggie Apelino, crooks that are perpetually picking their nose, aliens that are yelling about said monkey mobsters’ weird little foot-hands – Mars Attacks Judge Dredd has all of those things alongside bad guys getting blown apart and Martians having their brains punched out. It’s a wild and violent ride, but Mars Attacks Judge Dredd is a funny and irreverent cross-over event that delivers both laughs and thrills.
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, The Martian mayhem overtakes Mega-City One! During the annual meeting of the Mega-City Mafia, a new boss makes a play for power thanks to a mysterious benefactor. Meanwhile, Judge Dredd conducts a routine bust that turns out all but routine when he makes a shocking (and disgusting) discovery!
Next in issue #2, The Martian mayhem continues in Mega-City One! It’s all-out gang war as the Martians help muscle in on as much territory as possible. Meanwhile, Dredd brings in one of the Mafia dons for interrogation, and what Judge Anderson discovers sends chills down her spine. And what’s inside the mysterious sphere found in the Mafia nightclub?
Next in issue #3, The Martian mayhem escalates in Mega-City One! Dredd leads a detail of Judges in a bloody firefight with Martian forces, while scientists at HQ attempt to discover the nature of the mysterious metal sphere found in the city. But it may be too late to prevent a full-scale Martian invasion!
Finally in issue #4, The Martian mayhem comes to an explosive conclusion! The full-scale invasion has begun, and even Judge Dredd finds himself overmatched by the Martian forces. Judge Anderson has a plan, however, but can Dredd bring himself to seek the aid of the Mega-City Mafia?
Features awesome Mars Attacks cover artwork by Greg Staples.
