The Martians have attacked Earth, and all the heroes of the Image Universe have united in a desperate attempt to defeat them. During the Martian attack on Chicago, Illinois, one of the senior Martian field commanders identified Police Officer Dragon… as Agent Draii-Ghnn, one of a small group of Martians who had been mutated and sent to Earth to spy on the humans. Dragon, who has complete amnesia regarding his origin, didn’t know whether or not to believe the Martians. The only thing he did know is that he didn’t like the Martians destroying Chicago, so he tried to stop them…
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, “Martian Spy!”, On Mars, a temporal portal opens and the Colleen Mackay of the first timeline where Mars attacked Earth arrives with her master. She kills her master’s counterpart for this world just before the invasion of Earth begins. Earth suffers huge losses over the next few days and the city of Chicago only really has Dragon protecting it currently. Martians have been killed by the dozens but more swarm all over the city and Howard Niseman leads a SWAT team into battle. When the alien soldiers route their opponents, they move in to wipe them out, only to be killed themselves by the freak police officer. Dragon is spotted by high-ranking officers who believe him to be Agent Draii-ghnn, a spy who was genetically altered to serve on Earth and gather information, while retaining no memories of his past. The claims are dismissed by the hero, who battles through the army and forces a flying saucer to flee before being completely destroyed. Vanguard is then contacted to teleport his ally to Mars so that he can take the fight to the Martians, but the superpowered policeman is abducted from his friend’s vessel and is taken prisoner…
First issue does not include the free Mars Attacks Trading Card. (No Trading Card)
Next in issue #2, “Killer Monday!”, Dragon is experimented upon to discover why he broke his programming and stopped reporting as the genetically altered Agent Draii-Ghnn. The hero then learns that his body has been affected by a size-shifting gas that allows him to escape and free a captured woman called Colleen Mackay. She explains that she was a prisoner of the Martians along with many others, some who are still alive and in suspended animation. The duo attempts to release the other prisoners when an asteroid hits and fatally wounds the young woman. Dragon grows incredibly angry and increases his size to become a vengeful giant and decides to wreak havoc on Mars while he can…
Next in issue #3, “Attack of the Giant-Size Savage Dragon!”, Can the Dragon escape with the aid of a semi-friendly Martian scientist? Maybe if he gives up his eyes…
Finally in issue #4, “Hard Rain!”, The Martian invaders rejoice at the death of their renegade agent Draii-Ghnn and prepare to use devices to fire loose asteroids in the vacuum of space at planet Earth as their mobile forces are being defeated by the superhuman resistance. Dragon is dismissed as being an alien but was simply the blueprint upon which his doppelganger was based. The freak policeman then tears apart what is left of the alien’s facilities and resources as Colleen Mackay uses her enemy’s own machines to launch the asteroids at their planet instead, wiping out the entire race. She then uses a portal device to a parallel world where she begins a whole new campaign to wipe out another timeline’s alien invaders… Dragon is left with the task of evacuating those in stasis and returning home to see how his beloved Chicago survived the invasion.
