The original Death’s Head is a robotic bounty hunter (or rather, as he calls himself, a “freelance peace-keeping agent”), and often ends sentences with “yes?”. The character was created by writer Simon Furman and artist Geoff Senior for the company’s Marvel UK imprint. Furman originally planned to have Death’s Head debut in his stories for Marvel’s licensed title The Transformers, but believed that characters appearing there “were prone to be absorbed into that title’s catchall copyright,” allowing Transformers toy-line owner Hasbro to contest its ownership. This led to a one-page strip, “High Noon Tex” (which was subsequently published in various Marvel UK titles) being hastily created to establish Marvel’s ownership of the character.
Story/Spoilers
In part #1, It’s one hundred years in the future and the now-benevolent organization known as AIM has been fighting a non-violent conflict with the fascist government it wishes to change. But there’s a splinter group that’s ready to return to its violent roots.
Next in part #2, Caught between two chaotic sides, Death’s Head 3.0. isn’t sure what side it wants to be on…
Next in part #3, The Geneva treaty between the U.N. and A.I.M. is only hours away, paving the road to peace between the former techno-terrorist organization and the world, but the newly activated cybernetic entity known as Death’s Head threatens to change those plans.
Next in part #4, Death’s Head has finally caught up with G.E.I.S.T. agent Ray Hidalgo as the clock runs out for the U.N./A.I.M. treaty. Is this the end of peace on earth? If Scientist Supreme Varina Goddard has her way, it’s the end of Ray Hidalgo as well.
Finally in part #5, Varina Goddard has taken the mantle of A.I.M.’s Scientist Supreme, with a diabolical plan to bring the organization back to its full-blown glory as a techno-terrorist cult. With an alien berserker machine on her side, can G.E.I.S.T. agent Ray Hidalgo survive in time to stop world destruction? And what is the cosmic secret behind Death’s Head’s mysterious power source?
