After the end of Grant Morrison’s run on X-Men Vol. 2 titled New X-Men, the title was used for a new series, New X-Men: Academy X during the X-Men ReLoad event. The title was later shortened to simply New X-Men in 2006 when the new creative team of Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost took over the series with issue #20.

Whereas the other X-Men comics mostly deal with established adult mutants, this series concentrates on the lives of young students residing at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning as they learn to control their powers.

Story/Spoilers
In part #1, Someone… or something… is haunting the halls of the Xavier Institute, and it’s up to the New X-Men to get to the bottom of it! Plus, what is the secret of Prodigy’s younger sister?

Next in part #2, Something beyond comprehension is happening to the children on this street, in this school of mutants. One group of kids has taken it upon themselves as a last resort to try and stop it.

Next in part #3, There’s something haunting the Xavier Institute, and it’s not happy. Can the New Mutants find a way to bring peace to this tortured being before they become the tortured?

Next in part #4, David Alleyne, a.k.a. Prodigy of the New Mutants, can absorb the skills and knowledge of anyone close by – but is doomed to forget everything as soon as they’re gone. So what would happen if he could keep that knowledge instead of forgetting? He’d be the smartest kid in the world, right? Is it too much of a good thing?

Finally in part #5, David Alleyne, a.k.a. Prodigy, has realized the full potential of his powers. But could it cost him his friends?
