Description
Munsters #1 (TV Comics! 1997) Variant Comic
Featuring the Virgin Variant Photo Cover of Herman & Lily Munster. Awesome!!
The Munsters is an American sitcom depicting the home life of a family of benign monsters. One of the last great sitcoms of black-and-white television, the series starred Fred Gwynne as Frankenstein’s monster Herman Munster, Yvonne De Carlo as his vampire wife Lily, Al Lewis as Grandpa the aged vampire Count Dracula, Beverley Owen (later replaced by Pat Priest) as their niece Marilyn and Butch Patrick as their werewolf-like son Eddie. The family pet, innocuously named “Spot,” was a fire-breathing dragon.
TV Comics! presents, Munsters (1997-1998), the second comic book series that TV Comics! launched at the 1997 San Diego Comic Convention. Like the classic TV show, The Munsters, who live at 1313 Mockingbird Lane, are a family of monsters. Herman Munster (the dad) looks just like Frankenstein; Lily (the mom) looks like a female vampire – as does little Eddie Munster; and Grandpa is a dead ringer for an elderly Dracula. In stark contrast, their cousin Marilyn is like a normal girl-next-door blonde. Although the family lives in a creepy house decorated in early mausoleum chic, they’re really just a fun-loving, All-American family doing the family thing… all the while wondering why the neighbors always look at them so strangely.
This Virgin Variant Photo Cover comic with Herman & Lily Munster on the front cover is issue #1 of TV Comics! 4-issue Munsters series. It features the stories; “The Munsters”, “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”, & “Interview with Al (Grandpa) Lewis”. All presented in Glorious Black & White. Awesome!!
Writer: C. J. Henderson
Artist: George Broderick
Inker: Charles Barnett III
Letterer: Bob Pinaha
Victor Van Helsing, legendary vampire hunter, seeks out (Grandpa) Dracula at the Munster’s residence. Herman Munster greets Victor Van Helsing and invites him to wait for Grandpa inside the house. Inside, Herman finds Lily and tells of Victor Van Helsing. Lily, knowing Van Helsing, warns Herman that Grandpa is in danger. Herman snatches up Grandpa into the Munster mobile and zooms away. Herman remembers Lily so he and Grandpa return only to find Lily chained and in danger. But things are not as they seem. A surprising revelation changes everything for the Munsters.
