Description

Necroscope: Book II – Wamphyri #1           Magazine-Sized Comic
Writer: Martin Powell
Artist: Dave Kendall
Letterer: Patrick Owsley
Editor: Michael Brown
Cover by: Bob Eggleton

Author Brian Lumley has made something of a career with his “Necroscope” horror/fantasy books. Book II of this series, “Wamphyri” is adapted in comic form in this five-part mini-series. Necroscopes are powerful telepaths who are able to communicate with the dead. Of late, they have been employed by both the Russian and British governments as tools to break into each others’ secrets. This strange take on modern warfare got even stranger when the Brits’ Harry Keogh, perhaps the most powerful psychic known in the world, was killed battling Boris Dragosani, an independent necromancer and vampire operating within Russian borders. Even though Dragosani was killed in the battle, other vampires (or Wamphyri, as Lumley prefers to call them) have survived. And even death – where Necromancers and Wamphyri are concerned – is hardly the end of things…

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, Harry Keogh gets more than he bargained for while studying his old vampire foe, Thibor. Yulian Bodescu’s mother faints at the tomb of Thibor Ferenczy, vampire. She is pregnant with him and subsequently corrupted.

… story continues in Necroscope: Book II – Wamphyri (1993 – 1994) Issue 2-3.  Malibu Comics

Collectible Entertainment comment: “Necroscope Book II: Wamphyri” (1993 – 1994) is an ill-fated title that was originally to have run for five issues instead of just the three that were published and is therefore an incomplete story…. Nonetheless, “Necroscope Book II: Wamphyri” is still awesome from cover to interior. Recommended for the Vampire, Necroscope and/or Horror enthusiast.
