Story/Spoilers
In part #1, In the aftermath of the battle with the Hood which destroyed Dr. Strange’s sanctum, Jessica feared for the safety of her child and registered under the superhuman registration act. After that, she moved into Avengers Tower with the Mighty Avengers without consulting her husband about any of it. Meanwhile, Danny provides the New Avengers a new base of operations in an abandoned apartment complex.

Next in part #2, Echo heads out to meet her old pal Daredevil, but finds that she is really facing a Skrull in disguise. The Skrull plans on impersonating Maya and replacing her on the New Avengers, but Wolverine comes to the rescue and the pair are able to defeat the alien menace.

Next in part #3, On a world in the Skrull empire, scientists begin to do experimentation on human genetic material. The Skrulls also beginning to practice impersonating Earth heroes. After their world is devoured by Galactus, the Skrull empress claims that ancient prophecies declare that planet Earth will be their new home. Super Skrulls with multiple earth hero powers are developed. The empress decides to become an intricate part of the Secret Invasion and decides to take the form of Spider-Woman.

Next in part #4, As the Avengers prepare to battle Skrull impersonators in the Savage Land, Spider-Man is tossed into the jungle where he is found by Ka-Zar and Shanna. They tell him that in the past, a group of Skrulls who were disguised as SHIELD agents had been strip-mining the Savage Land for vibranium. Just as Spider-Man and the savage heroes convince each other of their humanity and decide to team up, they are confronted by Captain America.

Finally in part #5, The Skrull Empress transforms herself into Spider-Woman and begins to infiltrate the lives of Earth’s heroes while secretly manipulating events with her fellow aliens. These acts directly affect important events such as the House of M and the superhero Civil War.
