Dick Grayson was the original Robin, Batman’s teen sidekick. He came under Batman’s wing when his family, a group of circus performers, was murdered. Grayson served for years as the Boy Wonder, but eventually tired of living in Batman’s shadow. Accordingly, he adopted the new identity of Nightwing and struck out on his own. In the years that followed he would become the leader of The New Teen Titans, as well as a respected crimefighter in his own right.
Comic readers had to wait thirteen years for Nightwing to star in this, his first ongoing series. Kicking off in 1996, it follows upon the successful 1995 Nightwing mini-series, and takes Grayson into the one place worse than Gotham—the nearby city of Blüdhaven. Founded by German whalers, Blüdhaven once proclaimed itself “The Asbestos Capitol of America.” Now it’s home to gangs, corruption…and a new super-hero named Nightwing.
This Dynamic Forces Edition of Nightwing Issue #25 is signed & numbered out of 1500 by the Inker, Karl Story and includes a COA stating the number out of 1500.
Story/Spoilers
Nightwing wants to spend some time with Robin and combines this with a little training session as both heroes hop onto a freight train – their eyes covered by blindfolds. While balancing on top of a container wagon on one leg, Robin tells Dick about his girlfriend Spoiler being pregnant although Tim was not responsible for this. Dick says that Spoiler is not a good choice as a girlfriend, but Tim does not think Dick is the right person to judge about this regarding his history with rather complicated women. Robin is surprised to hear that Dick also was involved with the Huntress recently.
After handling some turbulence on the train wagon, both talk about Jason Todd. Tim thinks he is too cautious sometimes compared to the former Robin, but is pleased to hear that Nightwing is not fearless himself. Batman, however, might be another story in that regard.
Suddenly, Nightwing and Robin are attacked by members of the gang called Rail Devils which is specialized on robbing trains. But even blindfolded the heroes get rid of their opponents quite easily and dump them into a shallow river.
Before jumping on a train driving back to Blüdhaven, Nightwing reveals that he took the department exam and intends to become a cop …
