Description

Nosferatu: a symphony of shadows – a symphony of shudders                  Comic Lot
Writer: Rafael Nieves
Artist: Ken Holewczynski
Covers by: Salem’s Lot Movie Photo

An adaptation of the classic 1922 F.W. Murnau film, presenting one of the first (and still most effective) cinema vampires. Hapless real-estate agent Johann visits a mysterious count in Transylvania, unaware that his client is a vampire with sinister plans for his city and his young bride, Ellen.

Story/Spoilers
Nosferatu is a vampire tale told in the classical manner. It began in the town of Bremen, Germany in 1838 when young Johann Hutter was sent on a special errand by his boss, real estate agent Knock. Herr Knock wanted Johann to travel to Transylvania to meet with a Count Orlac, who wanted to purchase a property in town. For Johann, it seemed the opportunity to earn a rich commission and advance his career, but Johann’s young bride Ellen feared she would never see him again. Riding hard for several days, Johann finally arrived in Transylvania, where the locals lived in fear of Count Orlac. Still, Johann pressed on until he was face-to-face with Orlac himself, a strangely pale and misshapen man. Johann did not know it then, but he would soon discover that Orlac was a Nosferatu—a vampire. By meeting him, Johann had not only placed his own life in jeopardy, but had imperiled the entire town of Bremen—including Ellen!
