Pumpkinhead was a 1988 American horror film. It was the directorial debut of special effects artist Stan Winston. The film has built up a cult following in the years since its release. The first in the Pumpkinhead franchise, it was followed by a direct-to-video sequel, two TV film sequels, and a comic book series by Dark Horse. Now, in recent times, Dynamite Entertainment has taken over the license to release this 5-issue mini-series expanding on the Pumpkinhead mythos…

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, For thirty years, the demon of vengeance has been still, its corpse buried in a pumpkin patch graveyard in the hills. But when a reckless driver accidentally kills a pair of children, the creature is called up once more. This time, though, the monster’s intended target is protected by a cruel backwoods crime family. They hatch their own supernatural plans for dealing with Pumpkinhead. For each of man’s sins, a special demon exists, and when seven infernal creatures roam the hills and the hollows, no one – guilty or otherwise – is safe.

Next in issue #2, The demon of vengeance has been awakened, and the creature is stalking a group of backwoods drug kingpins responsible for the deaths of two children. Sheriff Andi Ferris is caught between an unstoppable killer and those marked for an agonizing end. But the would-be victims have some supernatural tricks of their own up their sleeves, and in their desperation to survive, they may unleash more pure evil into the world.

Next in issue #3, For each of man’s evils, a special demon exists. But Pumpkinhead – the demon of vengeance – is only one such infernal creature. What happens when his prey calls up the other demons of sin to stand in his way?

Next in issue #4, Pumpkinhead has been called up from Hell to exact vengeance against a cruel backwoods crime cartel. But his would-be victims have a few tricks of their own. They have summoned a group of their own restless demons with very specific instructions – destroy Pumpkinhead!

Finally in issue #5, Bradley Mountain is crawling with demons. All the sins of man have been unleashed upon the Earth. Pumpkinhead, the demon of vengeance, is their prey, but he’s not giving up on his unholy mission without a fight. Sheriff Andi Ferris is the only person standing in the way of a full-scale demonic massacre, and when she finds those responsible, she’ll exact a little vengeance of her own.
