Frank Castle joins a cult of assassins to take down an inhumane crime boss! Has the Punisher compromised his principles? Why else would he ally himself with a team of assassins to slay a gangland leader? The reason behind the bitter alliance is only one of the searing surprises in this, the grittiest Punisher saga of the season!

Story/Spoilers:
Arsène Jourdan III and his crew stole valuables from a safe and attempted to flee before all being gunned down by the Punisher. Afterwards, he left with a briefcase they had carried. Four days later, in New York City, a man named Kevin Reynolds was arrested by the police after a woman named Grace Williams had accidentally hit his car. That following afternoon, a woman named Reiko killed two hoodlums. Meanwhile, at The Thousand Autumns, a man named DiTomassio was electrocuted while answering a phone rigged by Reiko’s cousin Masumi. Afterwards, Reiko arrived at the restaurant and reprimanded Masumi for his indiscreet kill. Then, the leader of the Assassins Guild arrived and assigned a contract on realtor D. Marro Levy to an assassin named Daryl.

At the Punisher’s midtown apartment, under the alias of James Maxwell, he turned on a radio. Timmy Mulvey paid a visit to Robert Abbey in his office in seek of help. Kevin broke into Grace’s apartment and shot her dead. As the police and media were outside of the building, the Punisher overheard the incident on his radio. The Punisher arrived at the crime scene and shot Kevin with a sniper rifle. He spent the next two weeks trying to learn what made Kevin panic, leading him to a lawyer named Robert Abbey.

At The Thousand Autumns, Grace’s father paid the Assassins Guild $4,000 to kill Robert Abbey; the job was assigned to Reiko. The Punisher searched for Abbey and visited The Thousand Autumns as James Maxwell, although the guild knew who he really was. After eating dinner, “James” slept with Reiko and had Abbey’s phone bugged. The Punisher confronted Abbey walking down a sidewalk and learned the name “Richard Fletcher”, shortly before Reiko shot the lawyer in the head. Afterwards, the Punisher confronted Reiko about the Assassins Guild. When Reiko asked him if he had a family, he recalled fighting in Vietnam and having a family, only for him to watch them be murdered before becoming the Punisher. The Punisher and the guild later called a truce until they could find Fletcher. Masumi joined the Punisher and Reiko at a meeting, as he had information on Fletcher. At Caroline Linnet’s sixteenth birthday party, Masumi (as Toshi Umezaki) and harassed her. Later, the Punisher, Reiko (as Akina Maxwell), and “Toshi” visited an associate of Fletcher, who gave them an address where he agreed to meet them. The three entered the building, but their cover was blown when Masumi stepped past a metal detector. Fletcher’s security alerted him, while Masumi was captured by the guards and brought to him. Masumi grabbed a grenade and threw it at Fletcher’s computer, cutting off the power, but getting shot several times in the process. As the Punisher and Reiko closed in on Fletcher’s office, Masumi grabbed their target and ordered the vigilante to shoot through him in order to achieve their goal. After Masumi and Fletcher had both been killed, Reiko threw a grenade into the office in order to destroy evidence of their presence before leaving the building. At The Thousand Autumns, Kevin’s father, Stanley Reynolds left after being given a note with the Punisher’s name written on it.
