The Malnoro Virus has co-evolved with humankind for a millennia, altering the prefrontal cortex to make human beings capable of evil acts. This virus has been responsible for societal evils from schoolyard bullying to the atrocities of Adolf Hitler. A cure exists that can eliminate the Malnoro virus in most people, leaving them incapable of knowingly committing evil acts. A small percentage of people, however, are genetically incurable. Left alone, these incurables could cause new infections. To protect the general populace against infection, all incurable families were transported to an area of the Eastern United States call the Quarantine Zone. These people are now safely contained behind The Wall, watched over by Picon R242 Autoguns.

The last line of defense between good and evil is Quarantine Zone Enforcement. These Special Forces units are trained to maintain the Quarantine Zone border and to make forays into the QZ for peacekeeping purposes. These men and women risk their lives to protect yours…

In the future, humanity has discovered the root of all evil: a virus that modifies the neural pathways for empathy. Those infected have been forcibly imprisoned in the Quarantine Zone – regardless of whether they choose to do good or evil. Meanwhile, the rest of the world is sterile and crime-free, but permeated by an oppressive, paranoid fear of new outbreaks of the Malnoro virus.
