Description
Return of the Living Deadpool Comics Lot
Writer: Cullen Bunn
Artist: Nik Virella
Letterer: Virtual Calligraphy’s Joe Sabino
Editors: Charles Beacham, Heather Antos, Jordan D. White, Mike Marts & Axel Alonso
All Covers by: Jay Shaw
Last year, Cullen Bunn brought us Night of the Living Deadpool, the hit tale of the Merc with the Mouth trapped in the zombie apocalypse. In the end, our hero found a ‘cure’ of sorts to this horrible outbreak-any zombie that ate Deadpool transformed…into another Deadpool. And they lived happily ever after? Not so fast, as Cullen Bunn returns, joined by the amazing artwork of Nicole Virella, to let us know that wandering hordes of Deadpools might just be worse than flesh-hungry walking corpses.
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, Our hero eventually found a “cure” to the outbreak – any zombie that ate Deadpool transformed…into another Deadpool. Happily, ever after? Not so fast! Because wandering hordes of Deadpools might just be worse than flesh-hungry walking corpses! Now, the world is overrun by zillions of Deadpools and zillions of zombies, and a girl named Liz just wants to live through the night. But did she really just find a good Deadpool among the chaotic hordes?
Next in issue #2, Zombies. It seems like they’re everywhere these days. Feasting on flesh on the silver screens, enjoying a brain buffet in TV shows – These guys are monsters in every sense of the word, and they’re even worse in real life. Just ask Deadpool. When the undead overran the world, Deadpool figured out that his healing factor could be used as a weapon against them. So, he allowed himself to be eaten. By devouring his flesh, the zombies absorbed his consciousness, ceasing to be undead and transforming into an army of Deadpools that could save the world! Cool, right? Wrong. These new Deadpools didn’t share a sense of heroism with the original. The Pools quickly turned on the people they were meant to protect. With the mercs in charge, there was little hope for the human race. That is, until a girl named Liz stumbled upon a Deadpool with no memories. Now, Liz and this Deadpool are up against a whole army of well, him. Oh, and zombies, too.
Next in issue #3, Zombies, zombies everywhere… without end in sight! At least, that was the case until Deadpool, the only superhero left on Earth, figured out that his healing factor could be used as a weapon against the swarm of undead – and then promptly sacrificed himself to them. The only problem is, instead of killing the zombies, Deadpool’s healing factor… well healed them – into an army of Deadpools. Except rather than saving humankind, these ‘Pools only wanted one thing – more Deadpools! The merciless mercs are harvesting surviving humans and have begun breeding zombies and ‘Pools together in order to create more of their kind. That is, until a girl named Liz stumbles upon a Deadpool with no memories — an outcast of the army. Now Liz and this Deadpool must fight together to stop the parade of ‘Pools from finding the rumored Deadpool – Free Zone and find their way to safety. And who knows how to fight Deadpool better than… well… Deadpool?
Finally in issue #4, When Deadpool discovered that his healing factor could be used against the infestation of the undead, he sacrificed himself to them in the hopes of saving mankind. Instead, the zombies were transformed into an army of burrito-lovin’, society-dominatin’ Deadpools. The Merciless Mercs are harvesting surviving humans and have begun reprocessing them into zombies in order to increase their ‘Pool numbers. Saving humanity has clearly taken a backseat. The amnesia’d Deadpool and Liz are on the search for the Deadpool – Free Zone when he gets drawn underground and into the clutches of a mob of Monkpools. Now trapped, Deadpool and Liz must fight to survive the parade of ‘Pools! How are zombies the least of their problems?
