Rich Hedden and Tom McWeeney create a believable seedy, grimy world where gang bosses are bloated monsters, robots and mutates go about their business, and humans and a veritable platoon of assorted aliens mix freely. At the centre of this lunacy is Roachmill, an investigator possessed of an extra pair of insectoid arms, so he can hold more guns… which is definitely what he’s going to need! And it’s all presented in Glorious Black & White!
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, ”Dog City – Part 1”, Dark Horse picks up this fondly regarded series about a mutated exterminator in 30th century New York, originally published by Blackthorne. By this point in history, the line between humans and aliens has blurred – as has the line between pest exterminators and hit men. This is Roachmill’s line of work, and his extra arms just mean he can hold more guns. A routine mission to a space-station resort goes south quickly, as Roachmill discovers widespread carnage from a ravenous band of alien pit bulls – and now he’s trapped on the station with them.
Next in issue #2, ”Dog City – Part 2”, Still trapped on the orbiting resort satellite that has been overrun by hordes of ravenous, alien “pit bulls,” Roachmill discovers a group of survivors from the creatures’ attack. But can the “Exterminator Supreme” find a way off the derelict station? And what about pay-back for the people who set Roachmill up for this job? There’s no doubt about it – the action is just beginning.
Next in issue #3, The return of Roachmill’s arch-rival, the freelance exterminator Zoo-Lou! Creators Rich Hedden and Tom McWeeney cram more action into a single issue than most comics feature in a year, and this is the wildest issue yet) and if you’ve seen the previous issues, you’ll know just how wild Roachmill can get)!
Next in issue #4, More mayhem for your money! In what promises to be the wildest issue yet, Roachmill forms an uneasy alliance with his arch-enemy Zoo-Lou in order to rescue an errant go-go dancer from the most dangerous place on Earth – New York City’s Central Park!
Next in issue #5, Roachmill is hired to protect a neighborhood from a vicious serial killer. The killer’s victims: local prostitutes. Roachmill’s employers: their pimps!
Next in issue #6, Roachmill narrows his search – and even learns the killer’s identity – but not before the butcher can claim two more victims!
Next in issue #7, Roachmill loses his cool as the “Laser Killer” stalks Roachmill’s ex-wife!
Next in issue #8, Roachmill has his hands full – all four of them – as he battles to bring a demented mass-murderer to justice. But things get complicated when the murderer’s killer robot objects!
Next in issue #9, Roachmill has a new girl in his life- a Playboy centerfold no less! Her measurements: 60-15-45 (what do you expect- she weighs two tons!), and her “turn-ons” include destroying buildings with a single blow, killing innocent bystanders, causing general panic and mayhem– and eating her boyfriends! So, take a guess who’s next on her menu!
Finally in issue #10, Ms. October is still on the rampage, and it would be convenient for the Mayor if Roachmill was caught in a crossfire.
