Pipil Khan wants nothing more than to name an heir and shuck his mortal coil, but one thing stands in his way: Groo! It seems Pipil Khan just can’t rest easy until the world’s dumbest barbarian is out of the way, and he’ll give his kingdom to the one of his sons who can accomplish this. But they’re gonna need help, and they just might find it in the one person tough enough to take down Groo: namely Groo! Be there as Sergio Aragonés kicks off four issues of palace intrigue, abuse of the press, and breaking stuff.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, In a savage land of another era, a goodly segment of the world has long been under the heavy thumb of the evil, power-mad despot known as Pipil Khan. The tyrant wants nothing more than to name an heir and shuck his mortal coil, but one thing stands in his way: Groo! It seems Khan just can’t rest easy until Groo is out of the way. He’ll give his kingdom to the one of his sons who can accomplish this. One of them has a foolproof plan how to do it. Unfortunately for him, it may be that no plan is foolproof enough to thwart Groo.

Next in issue #2, The armies of Pipil Khan are scouring the earth looking for Groo (and hoping they don’t find him). Meanwhile, the Khan’s sons are jockeying to take over the kingdom once the old man dies, and Groo has found new employment: as a reporter. And he’s not letting the fact that he’s illiterate slow him down! And if he can’t find a good disaster to report on, Groo isn’t above causing one. Citizens, beware!

Next in issue #3, What’s the one thing that can scare even Groo? Relmihio, son of the Pipil Khan and Groo’s latest, greatest enemy has found out. You will shiver in terror, you will quake in awe, you will absolutely plotz as Groo faces his most horrifying opponent: The Mighty, The Dreadful, The Ghastly… Groo?

Finally in issue #4, Relmihio, the cowardly, conniving son of the Pipil Khan must behead Groo to assume his father’s throne, and he has a foolproof plan how to do it. Unfortunately for him, it may be that no plan is foolproof enough to thwart the fool known as Groo.
