Featuring the sword-wielding Marvel Comics character Red Sonja, created by Roy Thomas, who first appeared in Marvel’s Conan the Barbarian series (#23) in 1973. The film’s character of Red Sonja was based on a Robert E. Howard character, Red Sonya of Rogatine, appearing in his short story “Shadow of the Vulture.” (1934).

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, “The Blood That Binds!”, The She-Devil with a Sword embarks on a voyage with her golden-skinned companion Zora as they accompany a maiden on her harrowing journey across the sea. Red Sonja pits her courage and mighty sword-arm against pirates, the elements, and a conspiracy for murder!

Finally in issue #2, “The Sea That Steals!”, Death and betrayal await Sonja and her companions. In the thrilling conclusion to their journey, two will fall and one shall rise. Witness the birth of Valeria!
