Silent Night, Deadly Night is a 1984 American slasher film directed by Charles E. Sellier, Jr., and starring Robert Brian Wilson, and Linnea Quigley. The story concerns a young man named Billy Chapman, who suffers from post-traumatic stress over witnessing his parents’ murder on Christmas Eve by a man disguised as Santa Claus and his subsequent upbringing in an abusive Catholic orphanage. In adulthood, the Christmas holiday leads him into a psychological breakdown, and he emerges as a spree killer donning a Santa suit. Since its release, it has developed a cult following and spawned a Christmas slasher series, consisting of Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984), Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 (1987), Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out! (1989), Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation (1990), Silent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker (1991), & Silent Night (2012). In November 2024, a “reimagining” of the original film was announced to be produced by Cineverse. The movie is set to be written and directed by Mike P. Nelson, and is set for a late 2025 release.

American Mythology brings the Christmas slasher franchise to comics with this comic series inspired by the 1984 film that tells a brand new officially licensed story taking place after the events of the 1984 movie and delivering a brand-new horrifying holiday classic! It’s just the holiday horror you need to make the season bright… blood red.

Story/Spoilers:
In issue #1C, Ho Ho Horror! The slasher film that turned Christmas into a killer holiday is back! Billy saw his parents viciously murdered at the hands of a madman in a Santa suit. Orphaned and alone, Billy suffered even more at the hands of an overly strict nun, turning him into a killing machine hell-bent on punishing the naughty. Now…40 years later, a new nightmare begins. A holiday killer is on the loose, but there’s more here than just a psycho in a red suit. Sinister forces have awakened to raise an unstoppable evil once more, doling out punishment with the edge of his axe. Don’t get caught on this naughty list. This is a brand new officially licensed story taking place after the events of the 1984 movie and delivering a brand-new horrifying holiday classic!

Next in issue #2C, It may be the New Year, but this holiday horror keeps on delivering the slayings! Just when you thought it was safe to go back down the chimney! One of the most talked about horror / slashers classics from the 80’s is back, and it’s time to get punishing. Silent Night, Deadly Night set the horror bar high with its original cult classic movie, and American Mythology has decided to take their own whack at the series. Billy may have been down for the count, but when a group of orphans decide to take a trip down a darker holiday tradition, they awaken an evil not seen by the town of Eggnog in decades. Billy has a few old scores to settle as he works his way down a bloody new naughty list on a mission of murder and vengeance! The town’s only hope rests with a group of survivors from Billy’s last killing spree! Don’t get caught with your stocking down! Season’s Beatings!

Next in issue #3C, It’s beginning to look a lot like…a snowy massacre the likes of which the quiet streets of Eggnog, Utah hasn’t seen since Billy’s alter ego last laid waste to this small town! Parker and Prudence are on a race against time to find the recently escaped psycho Santa, who’s checking off his own personal naughty list one victim at a time! Will Billy’s bloodshed finally come to an end or will U.B.’s Christmas party at Ira’s toy store push the town past the point of return? You better check your list twice and bring this issue home before the mind-blowing conclusion that SNDN fans will never see coming!

Finally in issue #4C, Deck the Halls and grab your bulbs! It’s holiday horror at its finest with the final issue to the comeback Christmas story of the year! Psycho-Santa-killer Billy rocked the small town of Egg Nogg, Utah almost 40 years ago – little did they know he was just getting warmed up! In the bloody aftermath of the explosion at Ira’s Toy Store, Parker and Prudence are trying to piece together Billy’s bloody path of vengeance, which leads them back to the place where it all started – Saint Mary’s Orphanage! It’s a blood-soaked showdown with the shocking reveal of the true person behind all of Billy’s rage that fans will never see coming! Who says you can’t go home for the horrordays?!
