Description
Sin City: Sex & Violence One-shot Comic
Writer: Frank Miller
Artist: Frank Miller
Front Cover by: Frank Miller
Back Cover by: Frank Miller
Frank Miller’s Sin City first appeared in Dark Horse Presents #51–62 before these stories. Each series is intended to stand alone, published when ready rather than on a strict schedule. Sin City itself is a setting for each story-line, unnamed but seemingly rotten to the core. The characters all converge on Old Town, a no-go area for cops where the law is the law of the fist, the gun or, in some cases, the sword. At the heart of Old Town is a bar where strippers dress as cowboys and money will buy you almost anything. The women of the bar are also the area’s enforcers; if you cross them, you won’t live to regret it. But underlying all of the tales is something like the Japanese code of bushido, where honor means everything, especially if it’s all you’ve got.
“You are now entering Sin City.” Words to be wary of, especially when Delia is involved. She can make men forget everything else in their lives – appointments, wives, jobs, wives, responsibilities, wives… get the picture? She’s definitely the “devil in a blue dress” in this black, white, and blue one-shot from Frank Miller (Daredevil, Batman: The Dark Knight, Ronin, 300); and, when she’s on the job, Delia takes it very seriously. What does she do? Well, that would be telling… too much, but rest assured; more light is shed on yet another dark corner of the darkest city of all in this excellent book from Dark Horse.
Sin City: Sex & Violence contains:
“Wrong Turn” 23 pages
A man named Phil drives aimlessly in the rain, eventually finding Delia unconscious on a dirt road. He picks her up, and she tells him that she must have got struck by lightning. He offers to take her to the hospital, but she refuses. She asks if he is married, and he says that he is not. She takes him to the pits, and they make love. In the middle of it, he confesses that he is, in fact, married.
She starts choking him and calls him by the name of Eddie. She claims he has a trunk-load of stolen jewels he plans to sell in Sacred Oaks, violating an exclusivity agreement with the Wallenquist Organization. He explains that he is a used car salesman named Phil, and she understands. Eddie was supposed to be driving a similar Studebaker, and looked very similar. She sticks the heel of her shoe in his eye socket, killing him. She meets up with the Colonel and Gordo at the entrance to the pits. They check the trunk of Phil’s car and find his wife with six bullets in her chest. They throw him in as well and Gordo pushes the car into the pits. Delia explains that she has a train to catch.
——————————————————————————–
“Wrong Track” 3 pages
Eddie is riding the train. His internal monologue explains that he had a flat tire. Delia hits on him, and they make love near the back of the train.
When they’re done, she snaps his neck and throws him off the train. Leaving the rear of the train, the Colonel waits for her. “Delia – do you plan to make love to each and every one of them?” he asks. Her response is “Only the ones I like.
