Skeleton Warriors was an 13-episode cartoon series created by Gary Goodard and Landmark Entertainment Group. The animated series originally aired in 1994-1995 on CBS. The cartoon also spawned a toyline created by Playmates Toys, a comic book limited series created by Marvel Comics and a video game for the Sega Saturn and PlayStation consoles created by Neversoft.
Now Marvel Comics presents, “Skeleton Warriors“, a four issue mini-series based on the Landmark Entertainment cartoon. Following the fast-paced adventures in the animated series, Skeleton Warriors… Prince Lightstar continues to lead the Legion of Light against Baron Dark, the evil skeleton lord, and his army of skeletons.
The conflict began When Baron Dark convinced young Prince Joshua to steal the Lightstar Crystal, source of their world Luminicity’s energy. The crystal split in two, giving its darker energies to Baron Dark and transforming him into a skeletal monster. The brighter energies flowed into Lightstar and his family, giving them super-powers. Prince Joshua, however, was caught in between the two and became Grimskull, a half-man, half-skeleton. Since the splitting of the crystal, Lightstar and his family have struggled to survive, while Dark has been trying to recover their part of the crystal and consolidate his power. If he succeeds, darkness will truly reign over Luminicity…
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, “Dark Dawn”, The evil Baron Dark has been transformed into a living Skeleton Warrior! Now, Dark and his army seek a crystal that will give them ultimate power! Can Prince Lightstar and his Legion of Light thwart his unholy plans and liberate their world?
Next in issue #2, “Homecoming”, The Legion of Light strikes back at Baron Dark’s lethal Skeleton Warrior army – but how can Prince Lightstar defeat an enemy powered by the same crystal? When the TV show is over, the comic book adventures are just beginning!
Next in issue #3, “Shadowplay – Part 1”, When Baron Dark warps Grimskull’s mind, it’s brother vs. brother! Can Prince Lightstar survive without spilling his blood’s blood?
Finally in issue #4, “Shadowplay – Part 2: Lost in the Shadows”, Seduced and corrupted by Baron Dark’s power, Grimskull abandons the Legion of Light to become one of Dark’s Skeleton Warriors!
