Description

Space Circus                                                                 Comics Lot
A delightful sci-fi take on the old fantasy of running away to join the circus…
Writer: Mark Evanier
Artist: Sergio Aragonés
Colorist: Tom Luth
Letterer: Stan Sakai
Editors: Adam Gallardo & Scott Allie
All Covers by: Sergio Aragonés

The Space Circus, an enormous top in a bubble, traverses the byways of the known universe, providing entertainment to sentient lifeforms everywhere. Attacked by those no-goodniks, the Space Pirates of Salgari-7, the Circus touches down for repairs on a backwater planet called Earth. There, they acquire a stowaway, young Todd Cooper. Wackiness ensues as Todd meets killer Klowns, sentient gorillas and the two-headed Doodah Brothers, and decides to throw in with the Circus as they fight the pirates and preserve mirth and merriment throughout the galaxy.

A delightful sci-fi take on the old fantasy of running away to join the circus, the real star in this 3-ring comic is cartoonist Sergio Aragonés, whose irrepressible style gives hilarious life to an endearing collection of interstellar freaks and geeks. He’s aided and abetted by the writing of perennial cohort Mark Evanier.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, Once upon a time, kids used to dream of running away to join the circus, but now that’s out of date. Young Todd Cooper has a new dream for a new millennium: run away and join the Doodah Brothers’ Astral Travelling Entertainment and Fun Brigade, travelling from planet to planet with its incredible cast of Greebles, Flurps, Bearded Plankton, and Klone-Klowns, and avoiding the deadly Sky-Pirates!

Next in issue #2, The insidious Captain Quark, pirate of the airways, has a plan to infiltrate the Doodah Brothers’ Astral Travelling Entertainment and Fun Brigade, using it in his grand scheme to plunder the galaxy. So what’s likely to stop him? Well, this issue, it sure doesn’t look like Todd Cooper, the lost Earth lad who can’t even get accepted by the Klone-Klowns of Klarion.

Next in issue #3, Gather ’round, people… don’t crowd! You say you want a weird, silly funnybook? You say you’ve had it up to eyebrow level with the super-guys? Well, step right up… tell ya what we’re gonna do! We’re gonna sell you the third, bizarre issue of Space Circus, lovingly handcrafted for your dining and dancing pleasure by Eisner winners Sergio Aragones and Mark Evanier. It’s the tale of an Earth boy who runs off and joins an interplanetary circus and, of all the issues done so far, this is probably the third one.

Finally in issue #4, It was – past-tense – the greatest show in the galaxy… but now the Doodah Brothers’ Astral Travelling Entertainment and Fun Brigade is in the clutches of Captain Quark and the Space Pirates of Salgari. Young Earthling Todd Cooper is the only thing that just might be able to stop them from plundering the galaxy.
