This is the comic book sequel to the first Species movie. The signal from outer space that gave information for combining alien and human DNA was heard by more than one person. Duburke Chemicals decided to create its own hybrid life form and reap the scientific benefits of such experimentation. The only difference between its life form and the original Sil was Duburke engineered its to be male and used a human host. The Center for Disease Control is called in to clean up the mess after the rapidly maturing “Kal” sees a woman for the first time and those adolescent hormones kick in with claws and a purpose: to procreate and breed with every fertile female he can find, spreading his own species all over the planet much more quickly than the original Species specimen—the female Sil—could have accomplished. The main difference between Kal and a typical teenager is that the mothers don’t survive the experience.
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, They thought Sil was dead. They swept the Los Angeles sewers clean and dismantled the lab where she was “born.” They thought the alien threat to humanity was over. They were wrong. Now we will pay. Following the events of MGM’s blockbuster sci-fi motion picture comes an all-new story of an alien species determined to populate the earth.
Next in issue #2, The government got the drop on Sil, killing the other-worldly mutant and her newborn son before they could propagate their alien race on earth. At least that’s what they believed. Now somehow there’s another, and he’s on a road trip across small-town America in the second deadly step toward propagating his species. Following the events of the chilling MGM science-fiction movie comes the second issue of this all-new story of an alien species who will populate the earth — if research scientist Alanna Walker and government operative Erland Naylor can’t stop it first!
Next in issue #3, Tommy and Glenda just fell into a whole lotta luck — they met a stiff with a pouch full of uncut diamonds, millions of dollars’ worth. Finders keepers and all that, right? But that much ice is bound to bring all kinds of types sniffin’ around. Both human and otherwise. Tommy and Glenda ran into a whole lotta luck, all right — and every bit of it was bad.
Finally in issue #4, Kal’s having a tough time of it. He’s traveling around the country trying to meet a woman . . . well, okay, women . . . who would be willing to bear his children. Like any other red-blooded male, he has a genetic need to expand his family tree. But finding the right woman . . . well, okay, women . . . isn’t that simple. Because Kal isn’t red-blooded. He’s a human/alien hybrid, a unique, original Species. And he hasn’t found a woman yet who is strong enough to carry his child.
