Venom, or the Venom Symbiote, is a character appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics, commonly in association with Spider-Man. Venom made his first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #300 (May 1988). Venom was originally conceived as a supervillain, but has since become more of an antihero. Venom is a Symbiote, a sentient alien, with a gooey, almost liquid-like form. As with real-world symbiotes, it requires a host, usually human, to bond with for its survival. After bonding, the Symbiote endows its enhanced powers upon the host. When the Venom Symbiote bonds with a human, that new dual-life form refers to itself as “Venom”. The Venom Symbiote’s first known host was Spider-Man, who eventually separated himself from the creature when he discovered its true nature. In Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, a being known as The Beyonder gave Spider-Man a prize of sorts, in what appeared to be an extraordinary black costume. Eventually, this costume was revealed as an alien symbiote, who sought to permanently bond with Spider-Man. When Spider-Man rejected it, the symbiote turned malevolent and sought out another. The Symbiote went on to merge with other hosts, most notably Eddie Brock, its second and most infamous host, with whom it first became Venom and one of Spider-Man’s deadliest enemy. According to S.H.I.E.L.D., it is considered one of the greatest threats to humanity, alongside Magneto, Doctor Doom, and Red Skull.
Now Marvel Comics presents, “Spider-Man: The Vengeance of Venom”, When the web-slinger donned a sleek black costume of alien origin, he had no idea it would one day become his deadliest foe: Venom! See the misguided Eddie Brock in his earliest adventures as he tries time and again to take down the hated Spider-Man! Featuring the first appearance of Carnage! Plus: the Black Cat, Silver Sable and the Human Torch!
Spider-Man: The Vengeance of Venom contains:
“Sunday in the Park with Venom!”

Could the wall-crawler and his wife score a double victory against their respective nemeses? Mary Jane has a chance; Spider-Man not so much. Cameo appearances by Aunt May, Mary Jane Watson, Flash Thompson, and Jonathon Caesar.

In a burned-out building in Brooklyn, the spectacular one comes face-to-face with his new homicidal foe…Carnage! Can the wall-crawler end Cletus Kasady’s rampage in their very first encounter? Cameo appearances by Aunt May and Mary Jane Watson. Flashback cameo by Venom.

But that’s not going to work! No way, no how! So the wall-crawler heads to the park knowing a fierce fight awaits! However the web-slinger may have help this time from a very unlikely source…Eddie Brock’s ex-wife! Wow, will there be a family reunion atop the Ferris wheel? Or perhaps a funeral beneath it?
