The vast majority of our globe is covered in water – the seven mighty oceans that have spawned a million tales of brave adventure and daring travels, and that are the very birthplace of life, and of human life itself! In a not-so-distant future, the terrestrial areas of the earth have been irrevocably poisoned by mankind’s greatest folly – those dread engines of mass destruction, nuclear and biological weapons! Now, only a few isolated pockets of humanity survive, far to the northern and southern poles, and in the icy and turgid depths of the sea itself! This is where our modern tale of the inhabitants of that cursed future begins…

Squid Girl contains:

“Squid Girl: Hands of the Sea”   12 pages

A submarine battle ensues between two warring parties! Before the conclusion of the battle, the origin of Squid Girl is revealed. Her father was a scientist and ended up blowing himself up to hide save his research from falling into the wrong hands. Squid girl was caught in the blast and fell into a puddle of cephalopod stem cells. Fast forward to the present, two men are escaping a doomed submarine. They make it ashore and they are summoned by a woman who is part of Squid Girl’s crew. The two go aboard and meet Squid Girl. One falls in love with her and the other one develops contempt for her. When attacked by a giant squid, through a neural link, Squid Girl discovers that the man she already holds in contempt was responsible for her father’s death. Both men are imprisoned and then taken ashore to be abandoned. The man held in contempt makes a break for it and manages to escape back to Squid Girl’s submarine to commandeer it. The man who is her lover swims after and her submarine explodes. She is mourning her loss until her lover washes ashore, alive and well.
