To Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before.
Star Trek is an American space opera media franchise based on the science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry. The first television series, simply called Star Trek and now referred to as “The Original Series”, debuted in 1966 and aired for three seasons on the television network NBC. It followed the interstellar adventures of Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and his crew aboard the starship USS Enterprise, a space exploration vessel, built by the United Federation of Planets in the twenty-third century. The Star Trek canon of the franchise includes The Original Series, an animated series, five spin-off television series, the film franchise, and further adaptations in several media.
Green Lantern is the name of several superheroes appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. They fight evil with the aid of rings that grant them a variety of extraordinary powers, all of which come from imagination, fearlessness and/or emotional willpower. The characters are typically depicted as members of the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic law enforcement agency. The first Green Lantern character, Alan Scott, was created in 1940 by Martin Nodell with scripting or co-scripting of the first stories by Bill Finger during the Golden Age of Comic Books and usually fought common criminals in Capitol City (and later, Gotham City) with the aid of his magic ring. For the Silver Age of Comic Books, John Broome and Gil Kaeinvented the character as Hal Jordan in 1959 and shifted the origin of the character from fantasy to science fiction. Other notable Green Lanterns include Guy Gardner, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Simon Baz, and Jessica Cruz.
The galaxy-spanning crossover epic continues in this sequel to the blockbuster Star Trek/Green Lantern: The Spectrum War! Captain Kirk and Hal Jordan lead the combined might of Starfleet and the Lantern Corps on an all-new adventure against new foes!
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1A, Six months after the Spectrum War, Guy, John, and Kilowog are adjusting to life on 23rd Century Earth, while Hal and Carol accompany the Enterprise on missions. All of the Lanterns rings were super-charged by Ganthet when transporting them to this universe, but now the rings intermittently power down without warning, endangering the lives of the ring-bearers. The Enterprise tries to track down Saint Walker, who disappeared while on a mission exploring the Beta Quadrant, unaware that he has been captured by Klingon forces and brought to the new emperor of the Klingon Empire, Sinestro!
Next in issue #2A, Hal and the Enterprise crew battle Sinestro and the Klingons over an inactive Manhunter drone that has been discovered. Sinestro escapes with the drone, theorizing that if Manhunters exist in this universe then so must The Guardians, who would have a power battery capable of recharging the rings of the various Lanterns. Sinestro plans to use the drone to find his way to Oa. Meanwhile, John, Guy, and Kilowog track Atrocitus across the galaxy, where Atrocitus has unleashed a new threat: Khan!
Next in issue #3A, Hal, Carol, and the Enterprise encounter Manhunters, and Hal attempts to enlist their help to get to Oa and stop Sinestro. Khan seizes Atrocitus’ red ring and uses its power to battle John, Guy, and Kilowog. Sinestro makes use of the Manhunter drone and Larfleeze’s orange ring combined with his own yellow ring to search for Oa.
Next in issue #4A, Hal, Kirk, and Spock confront Khan, who has used his Red Lantern powers to kill the crew of the USS Bryant. Khan and his Augments are winning the battle when Guy, John, and Kilowog arrive to turn the tide and Khan and his followers flee. With the green rings now totally out of power, the non-powered Lanterns and the Enterprise work with the Manhunters to get to Oa. Khan heads to Qo’nos to enlist the aid of the Klingons and encounters Larfleeze. Meanwhile Sinestro has arrived on Oa and finds the Guardians and the Central Power Battery, which he plans to use to help him conquer the universe.
Next in issue #5A, Hal and the Enterprise use the Manhunters’ teleport gates to travel to Oa, where Sinestro has already unleashed the yellow entity from the Central Power Battery and is using it to destroy the Guardians before they can create the Green Lantern Corps in this universe. Khan and his Augments also arrive on Oa, seeking to steal the Guardians’ power from Sinestro to use to lead the Klingons against the Federation. Three surviving Guardians unleash the first Green Lantern ring in this universe to find a worthy candidate.
Finally in issue #6A, Kirk, having been chosen to wear a Green Lantern ring, joins Hal, John, Guy, and Kilowog in battle against Sinestro and Red Lantern Khan on Oa. The Klingon fleet attacks the Enterprise in orbit over Oa, and Carol uses her Star Sapphire powers to help fend off the attack. At the conclusion of the battle, Khan and the Augments are defeated and captured, while Sinestro escapes to the anti-matter universe. The Enterprise takes possession of Khan’s red ring and Ganthet’s orange ring. The Guardians of this universe plan to build a new Green Lantern Corps. Hal warns the Guardians about the Manhunters betrayal of the Guardians in his universe, so a programming change is made to prevent that from occurring in this universe. Saint Walker is still a captive of the Klingons, but Guy, John, and Kilowog plan to free him. Kirk decides to keep the Green Lantern ring he has earned, at least for now. Hal and Carol decide to stay with the Enterprise.
