To Boldly Go Where No One Has Gone Before.
Star Trek is an American space opera media franchise based on the science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry. The first television series, simply called Star Trek and now referred to as “The Original Series”, debuted in 1966 and aired for three seasons on the television network NBC. It followed the interstellar adventures of Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and his crew aboard the starship USS Enterprise, a space exploration vessel, built by the United Federation of Planets in the twenty-third century. The Star Trek canon of the franchise includes The Original Series, an animated series, five spin-off television series, the film franchise, and further adaptations in several media.

And now, Wildstorm productions presents “Star Trek: The Next Generation – Perchance to Dream”. Dispatched to attend the election of the new leader of a recent Federation member on a planet with three genders, the Enterprise crew are embroiled in political intrigue, due to the ruler having only one regular partner when the norm on the planet is two; a moralist faction is determined that she should not be elected. Although the Enterprise security team prove more than capable of dealing with any problems, the leader of the faction eventually releases a telepathic weapon known as the Chova, which forces its victims to experience dreams and hallucinations of their greatest fears and failures.

Stories/Spoilers
In issue #1, “To Take Arms Against a Sea of Troubles”, the Enterprise must provide security for an inauguration ceremony on the newly admitted Federation planet of Damiano. On this distant world, three genders are required for procreation, and anyone with fewer than two partners are considered a moral deviant. When it becomes known that the new governor-elect has only one partner, only Picard and his crew stand between the new governor and Damiano’s deadly moralist faction.

Next in issue #2, “By a Sleep to Say We End”, a diplomatic mission turns deadly as the story continues! When a plot to assassinate the new planetary governor of Damiano is foiled, a new scheme is hatched. Meanwhile, a deadly psychic virus called the Chova is unleashed on the Enterprise, with Worf as its first victim!

Next in issue #3, “In the Sleep of Death, What Dreams May Come” Worf is patient zero of the mind-altering Chova virus! There is multiple more attempts on the governor’s life, which are all thwarted by the crew of the Enterprise. However, as the Chova virus begins dropping more and more staff and security members, Chief Du’re is brought on board the Enterprise in order to try to determine how the Chova outbreak started and find solutions.

Finally in issue #4, “Enterprises of Great Pitch and Moment”, the deadly disease known as the Chova races through the ranks of the U.S.S. Enterprise, and Captain Picard realizes there’s only one person able to stop the spread of the virus, himself. Learning that the Chova can be defeated by those with Multiple Personality Disorder – such people literally overwhelming the Chova as it can only attack one mind at a time – Picard is infected with the Chova, his mind meld with Sarek, his possession of Kamin’s memories, and his assimilation by the Borg into Locutus giving him the makings of an MPD. Although Locutus attempts to take over, Picard is able to force Locutus back down into his mind.
