Star Trek: The Next Generation is an American science-fiction television series in the Star Trek franchise created by Gene Roddenberry that ran from 1987 to 1994. The series involves a starship named Enterprise D and is set in the nearby regions of the Milky Way galaxy, the Alpha Quadrant. The first episode takes place in the year 2364, 99 years after the start of the five-year mission described in the original series, which began in 2265. The Enterprise is commanded by Captain Jean-Luc Picard and is staffed by first officer Commander William Riker, second officer/operations manager Data, security chief Tasha Yar, ship’s counselor Deanna Troi, chief medical officer Dr. Beverly Crusher and her son Wesley Crusher, helmsman Lieutenant Geordi La Forge, and junior officer Lieutenant Worf.

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of Star Trek: The Next Generation! In the distant future the entire galaxy has been completely assimilated by Borg and it’s king… Locutus! The only hope for the future lies in the past, in the hands of Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the starship Enterprise – as Picard faces off against the Borg collective in one final, terrifying and definitive encounter!

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, In the 29th century the Borg have assimilated the entire galaxy without really know if it was worth doing. A spark of what’s left of Jean-Luc Picard awakens in Locutus and knows what must be done, starting 500 years in the past. In the 24th century, Picard is on vacation with Vash when he hears the collective calling. Returning to Starfleet Command, he learns that the Borg are massing and need to speak with Locutus of Borg. The Borg Queen brings news of a new threat, Species 1881, the Voldranaii. Failing to assimilate them, the Borg now find themselves on the run from a Voldranaii fleet with superior technology and a desire to exterminate all potential threats, including humans. The Queen sends her ambassador, Seven of Nine, to meet with Picard. In the 29th century, Locutus resurrects Data to help kill the Queen.

Next in issue #2, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the Starship Enterprise face off against a deadly new foe that threatens the very galaxy itself. This time, they do not meet their enemy alone, but with a most unlikely ally–the Borg! Locutus needs Data’s help to destroy the Borg Queen. First order of business is to execute the Queen’s Sentinel, a monstrous drone that is Seven of Nine. 503 years in the past, Picard recruits Annika Hansen to return to the collective as a Federation spy. Three years later, Seven of Nine, the Queen’s ambassador, assures Starfleet that the Voldranaii threat is real. Starfleet and the Borg make plans to intercept the Voldranaii fleet. Worf and a team of Vulcan commandos board a Voldranaii ship to retrieve biological samples of the aliens. Examining the DNA data sent by Worf’s team, Seven learns that the Voldranaii were engineered by Borg nanoprobes. The Queen transmits the Sentinel protocol to Seven who becomes something monstrous. 500 years later, Data kills Seven. Locutus will not let anyone stand in his way. 500 years in the past, Picard confronts the Queen’s Sentinel.

Next in issue #3, The Borg story to end all Borg stories warps towards it thrilling conclusion! In the far-flung future the Borg Queen faces off against the Borg King… an ancient Locutus! The stakes have never been so high, as the fate of the Enterprise–and the entire galaxy – hang in the balance! Locutus just won’t let it go, even as he dies. He gets Data to do his dirty work, killing Seven and the Queen. Now Data must go back in time and carry out the Captain’s orders.

Finally in issue #4, Continuing the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Star Trek: The Next Generation! It’s climactic finale of one of the most talked about Star Trek events of the year as past and future collide! Past and future intersect as Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Locutus meet to decide the fate of the United Federation of planets – and the entire Borg Empire! Data has gone back in time 500 years with a weaponized nano-virus programmed into his neural net. He convinces Picard that the virus can destroy the Borg within hours. To deliver the weapon, Picard must allow himself to be assimilated by the Borg Queen. He asks Seven for assistance. Picard, Data and Seven beam aboard the flagship of the Borg armada. The Borg Queen welcomes Locutus with a passionate injection of nanoprobes while Seven injects Picard with her own nanoprobe filters to conceal the nano-virus from the Queen. The Borg Queen is reduced to a puddle of green goo and the collective begins dying. While the Enterprise stalls for time, Seven attempts to free as many Borg from the collective as she can. Ultimately, Seven saves thousands, but at the cost of her own life. The Borg survivors are given a new colony of their own and Picard is alone with his thoughts at last.
