To Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before.
Star Trek is an American space opera media franchise based on the science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry. The first television series, simply called Star Trek and now referred to as “The Original Series”, debuted in 1966 and aired for three seasons on the television network NBC. It followed the interstellar adventures of Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and his crew aboard the starship USS Enterprise, a space exploration vessel, built by the United Federation of Planets in the twenty-third century. The Star Trek canon of the franchise includes The Original Series, an animated series, five spin-off television series, the film franchise, and further adaptations in several media.

Star Trek: The Next Generation is an American science-fiction television series in the Star Trek franchise created by Gene Roddenberry that ran from 1987 to 1994. It follows the adventures of the starship USS Enterprise-D and its crew set in the Alpha Quadrant (nearby regions of the Milky Way galaxy). Star Trek: The Next Generation was the first live action Star Trek television series since the original Star Trek went off the air in 1969. The first episode takes place in the year 2364, 99 years after the start of the five-year mission described in the original series, which began in 2265. Star Trek: The Next Generation featured a new crew that starred (for the majority of its seven-year broadcast run) Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Jonathan Frakes as Commander William Riker, Brent Spiner as Lt Commander Data, Michael Dorn as Lieutenant Worf, LeVar Burton as Lt Commander Geordi La Forge, Marina Sirtis as counselor Deanna Troi, Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher, and a new starship Enterprise.

Now, DC Comics presents, Star Trek: The Next Generation – ShadowHeart! On a Klingon world on the frontier, the natives begin to rebel against their Klingon masters, led by a mysterious man named “Shadowheart”. Meanwhile, the USS Enterprise-D crew mourns with Worf for the death of his brother Nikolai Rozhenko, killed defending the colony he lived at. Jean-Luc Picard learns that “Shadowheart” may indeed be Rozhenko, and dispatches Worf and Riker. Gowron sends Worf’s brother Kurn to join them on their mission.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, “The Lion and the Lamb”, Lieutenant Worf of the Enterprise is asked to undertake a covert mission by the Empire’s High Council. A Klingon colony is threatened by an underground movement of the planet’s indigenous life-forms – a movement led by Nikolai Rozhenko, Worf’s human foster brother from the episode “Homeward.” A mysterious human, calling himself Shadowheart, is helping the Nothrani to rebel against the Klingons who have occupied their planet for centuries. Evidence seems to indicate that Worf’s human brother, Nikolai Rozhenko could be the leader, though it was believed that he had been killed on another world.

Next in issue #2, “Dealers in Darkness”, Worf, his brother Kurn and Riker try to quell the rebellion led by Shadowheart on the planet Nothria. Intercepted by Klingon security forces, their only hope to keep the mission secret is to escape into the planet’s deadly jungles. Worf, Kurn and Riker find an informant who can lead them to the leader of the rebellion, Shadowheart.

Next in issue #3, “My Brother’s Keeper”, Barely escaping the forces of Klingon Security, Worf, Riker and Kurn must now survive the dangers of the Nothrian jungles in a deadly race to reach the rebel stronghold of Shadowheart. Lieutenant Worf, Commander Riker and Kurn are pursued through the jungle by Klingons and are eventually captured by Nothrani rebels.

Finally in issue #4, “The Prince of Madness”, Worf at last confronts his human foster brother…but Nikolai’s mind is so warped, he truly believes himself to be the Klingon demon Shadowheart. Worf, Riker and Kurn are about to be killed by the Nothrani rebels when the Klingons attack, giving them a chance to escape and save Worf’s human brother, Nikolai and stop the Klingon aggression.
