In the classic Star Trek episode “The Doomsday Machine,” Captain James T. Kirk faced an enemy more destructive than any he had ever encountered – one composed of pure neutronium, miles long, that smashed planets to bits, converting the planetary matter to fuel with which it fed its insatiable hunger. Luckily, Kirk had a crippled starship to throw at the stellar destroyer, ensuring its defeat. But now the “Planet Killer” is back…
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, “Book One – Ultimate Weapon”, Captain Janeway and her crew face a mysterious stellar destroyer like Captain James T. Kirk faced. Janeway knows how Kirk managed to beat the mysterious stellar destroyer, but she doesn’t have the same resources. With the vast killer poised to consume an entire system of populated planets, Janeway and her crew must act quickly to neutralize the threat of the destructive behemoth.
Issue #1 was incorrectly published with “1 of 4” on the front cover, when the series was only 3 issues. (corrected on issues 2,3)
Next in issue #2, “Book Two – Old Tricks”, While the Doomsday Machine continues to destroy planet after planet, Janeway and the Voyager crew look on in horror as they try to find a way to defeat the device. With the minutes ticking away until the Planet Killer reaches an actual inhabited world, things are looking increasingly desperate.
Finally in issue #3, “Book Three – Death”, With a Doomsday Machine plowing through one planet after another, time has run out for the crew of Starship Voyager – and the residents of a solar system’s inhabited worlds. Janeway doesn’t like to admit defeat, but this may be one time she has no choice. On the bright side, she won’t have to live with the humiliation for long, as Voyager is next in line to be consumed by the massive engine of destruction. Can she and her crew pull off a miracle?
