Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, In the unexplored fourth year of the U.S.S. Enterprise’s legendary five-year mission. A sequel to the classic episode ‘The Enterprise Incident’-originally written by D. C. Fontana herself — where Kirk and Spock found themselves trapped on an Enterprise out of phase with space itself and facing a plot of revenge from Romulans!
Next in issue #2, With the Enterprise crippled and out of phase in a cloaking experiment gone haywire, a Romulan strike force storms the starship, looking for revenge over their stolen technology. Kirk and Spock, meanwhile, must find a way to repel the invaders, while at the same time reverse the experiment and restore the ship-before it fades away completely!
Next in issue #3, Restoring Scotty, Sulu and Chekov by using transporters, Kirk successfully repels a Romulan boarding party intent on taking the new Federation cloak for themselves. Utilizing the tactical advantages afforded him by the phase cloak, Kirk eludes his Romulan pursuers by going through a white dwarf before Scotty finally shuts down the cloaking unit. Returning to starbase, they find that many of the theoretical technologies employed in the new cloak were derived from scientific observations of the Guardian of Forever. The technology though flawed, may yet have a future in the Federation as Section Thirty-one appropriates the cloaking unit for further development and testing.
Next in issue #4, A Federation discovery is made on Loren 5 while Commander Kor leads a strike force through the Neutral Zone to once again test the strength of the Organian treaty. He is shocked, however, to realize the Organians are not interfering with his attack. The Enterprise is dispatched to investigate a space station that has gone silent, only to discover that it has been destroyed by the Klingons in an overt act of aggression. Receiving orders routing the Enterprise to Loren 5, Kirk and his crew race to buy time for Starfleet reinforcements to arrive, while uncovering more about the mystery found on the planet.
Finally in issue #5, Having discovered the presence of Preserver technology within the ruins of the alien city beneath the surface of Loren 5, the crew of the Enterprise find themselves in a race with the Klingons to unlock its secrets. Meanwhile, a mysterious meeting between Tal and a shadowy Federation Admiral lays the groundwork for a hidden agenda. Captain Kor’s search for a place of potentially great power and value is beset by failure, yet he will never stop for fear of soiling his honor once again. Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise undertake a daring and risky mission to recover a Preserver pedestal stolen by Kor, which could give them answers to the riddles of this mystery. The mission having been successful, the Enterprise uses surprise and guile to escape a superior Klingon force in order to discover the secret of this Preserver technology before Kor catches up with them.
