Star Wars: The Last Jedi, released on December 18, 2017. And Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was released on December 20, 2019.

Marvel Comics presents a tale of Chewbacca. Known as the skilled co-pilot of the infamous Millennium Falcon, the legendary Wookiee warrior CHEWBACCA stars in his very own limited comic series! Chewbacca, a 200-year-old Wookiee, becomes Han Solo’s companion after Han, an Imperial officer at the time, refused an order to kill him, for which Han was dismissed from the Imperial Navy and became a smuggler. To repay this debt, Chewbacca protected Han for the rest of his life, and served as his co-pilot on the Millennium Falcon. Chewbacca is considered one of the “greatest sidekicks” in film history.

Now… a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… Chewbacca! After the battle of Yavin, Chewbacca is on his own when he crash lands his ship on an Imperial occupied planet. Now stranded, Chewie finds himself caught in the middle of trying to return to the rebellion and helping a young and feisty girl in need.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, It is a period of renewed hope for the rebellion. The evil galactic Empire’s greatest weapon, the Death Star, has been destroyed by Chewbacca, warrior son of the planet Kashyyyk…with some help from his trusty sidekick Han and his friends Luke and Leia. But Chewie is not one to grandstand. There is still much to accomplish. The Battle of Yavin reverberates through the galaxy as our Wookiee hero embarks on a very important and personal secret mission. Unfortunately for Chewbacca, his loaner spacecraft proves to be what they refer to in the Outer Rim as a “hunk of junk”…

On the Outer Rim planet of Andelm IV, the alien gangster Jaum and his Shistavanen enforcer and bodyguard Tyvak visit the home of Human debtor Arrax and his daughter Zarro. With his client unable to pay off an overdue loan, Jaum forces Arrax and Zarro to work as indentured labor in the Andelm beetle caverns. Arrax and Zarro are forced to harvest the larva of Andelm beetles, whose chemicals are an economic commodity. Unwilling to see his daughter suffer, Arrax smuggles out Zarro in a cart carrying beetle larvae. He also tells her not to return to their home and to never return to the caverns. Upon reaching the surface, Jaum’s guards discover she is missing but Zarro manages to flee on a speeder. Elsewhere, the Wookiee Chewbacca rests on a bed of flowers after crash-landing his RZ-1 A-wing interceptor on the planet. His rest in interrupted when he discovers that the starfighter’s engines have failed, causing to roar in frustration. Meanwhile, Zarro goes to a local councilor for help only to discover that Jaum has bribed the council. Meanwhile, Chewie tries to repair the A-wing. Elsewhere in an Andelm IV city, Zarro tries to sell her speeder to a Besalisk junk dealer. However, the Besalisk is in the pay of Jaum and confiscates the speeder on the grounds that it is stolen property. When the Besalisk and another henchman try to apprehend Zarro, she is forced to flee into the streets. Shortly later, Chewbacca tries to by a flight stabilizer from the Besalisk, who is only willing to sell it for 100 Credits. Lacking sufficient funds to buy it, Chewie goes to a casino to gamble for funds. Chewie plays a game of sabacc with the casino’s CZ unit and succeeds in doubling his credits. Shortly later, Zarro enters the casino to hide. Taking pity on the child, Chewie motions for her to hide behind his table. Shortly later, Tyvak and several other enforcers enter the casino hunting for the fugitive. Tyvak doesn’t bother to search Chewie knowing the Wookiee species’ reputation as fierce and strong fighters. Chewie lets Zarro share a bowl of broth. Using the funds, Chewie is able to buy a flight stabilizer. Later, Zarro befriends Chewbacca and tells the Wookiee about her father’s gambling debts and predicament. She tells Chewie that Arrax and several of their friends are in “big trouble” and that they need help from somebody scary-looking. Chewie roars in approval and gives her a piggy-back ride. Zarro tries to guide Chewie to Jaum’s work camp but the Wookiee returns to his damaged A-wing. Despite not speaking the Wookiee language, Zarro tries in vain to secure a promise from Chewie to help her before he goes offworld. While watching Chewie repair his ship, Zarro reflects on her mother leaving Andelm IV on a starship. After some haggling, Zarro manages to convince Chewie to help her after telling him that she and her father had been enslaved by Jaum. This strikes a chord with Chewbacca, who had experienced slavery at the hands of the Empire. Chewie raises his bowcaster in affirmation and Zarro hugs him. Meanwhile, Jaum and Tyvak travel on a speeder for a secret night-time rendezvous with an Imperial officer. Jaum has been trying to sell high quality dedlanite to the Galactic Empire and shows the officer a sample. After taking the sample, the officer asks Jaum if he has the infrastructure to deliver it in large quantities. Jaum replies that he has a “team that is ready to work itself to death for the Empire.”

Next in issue #2, It is a period of renewed hope for the galaxy. After accidentally crash-landing his ship on the Outer Rim planet Andelm-IV, Chewbacca, fearless warrior son of Kashyyyk, has found himself in unusual circumstances. An opportunistic gangster named Jaum has taken over Andelm-IV, enslaving the people and selling natural resources to the dreaded Galactic Empire. Jaum’s lone resistance is a young hero named Zarro, but she can’t overthrow Jaum and free her people alone…Fortunately for her a tall, dark, and mysterious stranger arrives. Chewbacca has stepped away from the Rebellion on a personal mission. And luckily for Zarro, he’s temporarily set aside his own goals to help the oppressed…

The following day, Zarro and Chewbacca approach the entrance to Jaum’s mine. After Chewie scouts the perimeter with his macrobinoculars, Zarro shows him the air vents. She proposes sneaking down with the hoist line so that the indentured laborers can all climb out tonight without risking a fight. However, the Andelm beetle lava sometimes collapse the air shafts so they have to find a stable one. Chewie is wary of getting stuck but Zarro tells her that her plan is to allow herself to get captured. To keep in contact, Zarro has borrowed Chewbacca’s transmitter, which is fitted with a homing beacon. As planned, Zarro is captured by Jaum’s guards. As punishment, Jaum orders that her shifts be doubled and that her rations be halved. She finds her father Arrax and her friend Dek and tells them that she has a plan to escape. Zarro uses a shovel to begin digging through a hollowed-out section of the mine. Chewie is able to monitor her movements with another transmitter. While tunneling through an air vent, Chewie has flashbacks of his and his people’s enslavement at the hands of Trandoshan slavers. Chewie’s work is interrupted when he hears that Zarro has been captured by Jaum’s men. Arrax pleads for his daughter’s life but Jaum is unconcerned. Addressing the forced laborers, he tells them that their dealings are reaching an end. Jaum reveals that he has sold the entire Andelm beetle operation including his slaves to the Galactic Empire. The Empire is interested in the Andelm beetles, which contain an abundance of rare organics used in the manufacturing of blasters. He intends to replace his indentured work force with droids. When one of the slave labourers tries to attack Jaum with a shovel, Jaum shoots him dead with his blaster pistol. Sensing labor problems on the horizon, Jaum orders his guards to execute the laborers. Before the guards can execute their captives, Chewbacca appears behind them and overpowers them. He even kills one with his Bowcaster. After introducing her friend Chewbacca to her father and the other miners, Arrax tells the miners that they have to fight their way out. Using a broken-down GNK-series power droid, Chewie is able to fashion an improvised rod. He uses the rod to disabled a wheeled battle droid. Meanwhile, Jaum learns about the miners’ “hairy demon” from one of his guards, who is addicted to spice. Having other plans, Jaum executes the guard with his blaster pistol. While finishing off the battle droid, Chewie is confronted by another guard who challenges him to a blaster fighter. However, the Wookiee knocks him out with the dead GNK power droid. Arrax and Zarro pass Chewie’s bowcaster back to the Wookiee and he searches for a way out. Upon entering the loading bay, the Wookiee discovers that Jaum has fled but left behind crates of Andelm beetle larvae. Outside, Jaum’s Shistavanen bodyguard Tyvak fires a blaster bolt at the crates. They intend to blow up the volatile larve and kill the rebellious miners and the Wookiee. The Shistavanen quotes an old saying about Wookiees: “Never let a Wookiee live. Thy bring ill fortune. Kill them whenever you can.”

Next in issue #3, It is a period of renewed hope for the galaxy. After accidentally crash-landing his ship on the Outer Rim planet Andelm-IV, Chewbacca, fearless warrior son of Kashyyyk, has put aside his own personal mission to help a young hero named ZARRO. An opportunistic gangster named JAUM has taken over Andelm-IV, enslaving the people – including Zarro’s father Arrax – and selling natural resources to the dreaded Galactic Empire. Zarro planned a distraction and allowed herself to be captured by Jaum’s men so that Chewie could rescue her father and the other prisoners. After what seemed like a successful run, Chewbacca stayed behind in the caverns to ensure the prisoners’ safe escape – only to find himself caught in an explosive trap set by Jaum himself…

On Andelm IV, the gangster Jaum and his Shistavanen henchman Tyvak write off the mine at the Andelm beetle caverns as a loss. However, Jaum ensures his henchman that once the Galactic Empire supports his plan, he would have access to slave labor, and droids. Tyvak plans to transform the nearby forest into the most profitable prison in the Empire. When Tyvak expresses concern that the Empire could just steal it from them, Jaum expresses his concern that the Wookiee Chewbacca somehow survived the mine blast. Meanwhile, Chewie lifts up a fallen catwalk while Zarro douses his scorched left leg. Having put the fire out, the Wookiee and miners struggle to find a way out. Zarro is relieved to discover that her father Arrax has also survived the explosion. After embracing, Arrax tells his daughter that she should never have come back. Before Arrax can chastise his daughter, Zarro tells him and Chewie that they have to find their way out. Arrax is worried because now that the power grid is down, the Andelm beetles are free to return to the caverns. Zarro then tells Chewie that the larvae turn into poisonous beetles. When Chewie grumbles, she tells him not to make that face because he crash landed on the planet. The three companions are soon pursued by a swarm on Andelm beetles but Chewie uses his bowcaster to shoot down one of the girders, causing the cavern to collapse on the beetles. However, Chewie’s action causes the miners their only way out. Zarro reassures them that this is not the case. Chewie lifts the derelict GNK-series power droid from the guard he had knocked out earlier. After recognizing the guard, he throws the droid back onto the man. Meanwhile, Arrax leads the other forced laborers out of the mine. Later, the miners meet up to discuss finding a way out of the mine. One Human male suggests digging their way out while a female Human warns that doing so would cause the forest to collapse on them. An Aqualish adds that it is only a matter of time before the beetles catch up with them. In the end, they reluctantly settle for Chewie’s plan to do a vertical climb out of the mine through a sinkhole. With much difficulty, Chewie manages to climb through the air vent and reach a hole beneath the roots of a large dead tree. Using his strength, the Wookiee manages to topple the tree, creating a pit large enough for the miners to climb out. Using a rope, Chewie is able to safely pull out Zarro, Arrax and all of the other miners. After thanking Chewie, Arrax tells his daughter that they have to flee offworld before the Empire arrives on Andelm IV. However, Zarro doesn’t want to leave her home and become a refugee offworld. She points out that if they don’t stop Jaum, they will lose everything including the planet’s forests. When Arrax tells his daughter that he doesn’t want to lose her to the Rebellion, she responds that she is only interested in keeping the Empire off Andelm IV. When Arrax suggests that Zarro could help treat the wounded, she points out that he has plenty of help. Unwilling to live under Jaum’s oppression, Zarro plans to fight back but tells her father that she will help the Wookiee repair his ship. Zarro reluctantly supports his daughter and tells Chewbacca that she is all that he’s got and to stay away from the spaceport. Zarro promises to stay away from the local spaceport. In secret, Zarro and the Wookiee travel to the spaceport. She finds the droid I-7, who serves as the eyes for his master Sevox. Zarro convinces her old friend Sevox, who lives in a secret bunker to let her and Chewie borrow some gear for a special project. The two companions find an old green R5 droid, which Chewbacca plans to use against Jaum. Meanwhile, at Jaum’s nightclub, the gangster’s guards bring in one of his former workers who was caught skulking outside. This worker turns out to be the former owner of the nightclub. After learning from the worker that the miners had escaped with the help of the Wookiee, Zarro burns the Human’s face by with a tube linked to his life-support helmet. Jaum then orders Tyvak to assemble his men in the hangar and to redirect the array in order to make a deep space transmission. In space, the Imperial Commander Kai receives Jaum’s call from the hangar bay of his Imperial Star Destroyer. Kai informs him that the samples that he sent are still undergoing testing. To deal with the escaped miners and the Wookie, Jaum asks Kai to send stormtroopers to quell rebellious attitudes. Jaum tells the commander to consider it a payment. The commander accepts the payment but asks if his city streets are wide enough to accommodate AT-ST walkers.

Next in issue #4, It is a period of renewed hope for the galaxy. After accidentally crash-landing his ship on the Outer Rim planet Andelm-IV, Chewbacca, fearless warrior son of Kashyyyk, has put aside his own personal mission to help a young hero named Zarro. An opportunistic gangster named Jaum has taken over Andelm IV, enslaving the people – including Array, Zarro’s father – and selling natural resources to the dreaded Galactic Empire. After attempting to rescue her father, Zarro and Chewbacca found themselves trapped within the planet’s deep caverns. Deftly escaping with Jaum thinking them dead, the two heroes head toward the spaceport to get outside help. Little do they know, Jaum has called for outside resources. The Empire is coming to Andelm IV…

Zarro, Chewbacca, Sevox, and the protocol droid I-7 travel on a landspeeder to the Andelm IV spaceport. Sevox soon learns from an individual named Lageose that an Imperial Star Destroyer has entered the Andelm system. Due to the Imperial presence, Sevox thinks that Chewie’s plan to use an R5 repair droid crammed with explosives is a bad plan; prompting the Wookiee to roar back in protest. While driving the speeder, Zarro insists that Chewie’s plan will work. Before dropping Zarro and Chewie off, Sevox tells the two that he will move out of his bunker so that they can use it as a hideout. However, he tells them not to mention his name if they are captured. He also jokes that they should tell the Empire that he has been enslaved by his own protocol droid. Chewie whisks away a group of Human child beggars. Before leaving, Sevox tells Zarro that he would give her some credits if she can bring the head of an Imperial RA-7 protocol droid, whose optics are supposed to be magnificent. He also advises her not to let the Imperials think that she is part of the Rebellion. Chewie and Zarro enter the spaceport disguised as a battle droid and a diminutive alien respectively. Despite Zarro’s hope that they can take out Jaum before a single Imperial lands, they discover that the spaceport has been locked down by several stormtroopers and Scout troopers. Together with their fake repair droid, Zarro and Chewie managed to gain entry by pretending that Chewie is Jaum’s latest war droid. Upon entering the hangar, they find Jaum supervising stormtroopers who are loading crates of Andelm beetles into an Imperial landing craft, which is being guarded by an AT-ST walker. When Jaum demands to know who they are, Zarro claims that they were told to guard the shipment and tells him that he should not be here. Zarro then claims that her droids will finish the loading. Suspicious, Jaum orders her to take off her helmet. Chewie then opens fire on the stormtroopers and Jaum with his blasters. She then sends the rigged repair droid “Boomer” aboard the shuttle. After running out of blaster bolts, Chewbacca takes out the stormtroopers in hand-to-hand combat. In the midst of the fighting, “Boomer” is knocked out by a stray blaster bolt. While Jaum boards the shuttle with the supplies, his Shistavanen bodyguard Tyvak decides to finish off Chewbacca in a one-on-one duel with a metal rod. Trapped between the AT-ST walker and Tyvak, Chewie activates a nearby engine which burns the Shistavanen alive and damages the AT-ST’s right laser cannon, causing it to topple to the floor. While an enraged Jaum exchanges fire with Chewie, Zarro sneaks the repair droid aboard the Imperial landing craft. Thinking that he has won, Jaum departs on the shuttle for the Star Destroyer in orbit. Zarro and Chewbaca celebrate planting the repair droid aboard the shuttle. However, their elation is short-lived when the two are arrested by scout troopers reinforcements. Zarro tries to fool the Imperials by claiming that Jaum is a spice addict but the lead scout trooper arrests the two fugitives. Commander Kai has ordered their arrest and transportation for interrogation.

Finally in issue #5, It is a period of renewed hope for the galaxy. After accidentally crash-landing his ship on the Outer Rim planet Andelm IV, Chewbacca, fearless warrior son of Kashyyyk, put aside his own personal mission to help a young hero named Zarro. Together, Zarro and Chewbacca rescued several captives from an opportunistic gangster named Jaum who had taken over Andelm IV and was selling natural resources to the evil Galactic Empire. But right before Jaum made his escape on an Imperial Star Destroyer, the pair loaded a droid with explosives onto the ship in an attempt to put an end to Jaum and wound the Empire. All was going according to Zarro’s plan when suddenly both she and Chewie found themselves captured by Imperials and sent up to the very same Star Destroyer….

Commander Kai and an Imperial RA-7 protocol droid wait aboard his Imperial Star Destroyer for an Imperial shuttle carrying the local girl Zarro and the Wookiee Chewbacca that the scout troopers had captured. The RA-7 droid had been dispatched to translate by the scout commander and he is perturbed that they have ceased communication. Kai thinks that the Star Destroyer’s superstructure is interfering with the antenna. However, he is proven wrong when a stormtrooper helmet rolls out of the gangplank. Inside, Chewie and Zarro knock out the stormtroopers. Upon exiting the gangplank, Chewie also beheads and rips apart the RA-7 droid. Before the fight can escalate, Zarro addresses the Imperial commander and tells him that she is here to help the Empire. She tells Kai that Jaum is a gangster who is running a scam and that he is a rebel spy. Zarro claims that Jaum does not own an operation and that his R5 repair droid “Boomer” is loaded with explosives. Shortly later, Jaum arrives with two stormtroopers carrying boxes of sample. He is planning to leave so that he can settle other debts. However, Zarro tells Jaum that she has told the Empire the truth about his “scam”. Shortly later, the Imperial landing craft carrying the Andelm beetle larvae and Boomer go up in flames. The explosion damages the ship’s force-field. Chewie and Zarro take advantage of the chaos to flee on a TIE/sa bomber. After some difficulty, they manage to free the ship by starting the launch cycle. However, Zarro accidentally releases a thermal detonator which damages the right-wing of the bomber. Despite the bombing catching fire on re-entry, Zarro and the Wookiee still manage to crash-land the craft. Shortly later, the two walk back to Chewie’s RZ-1 A-wing interceptor. Chewie plans to leave Andelm IV to complete a special mission. While Zarro is thankful to Chewbacca for saving her planet from Imperial conquest, she is sad that he is leaving. She also notices that the Wookiee is transporting a box. Before leaving, the two embrace and Chewie gives her his gold medallion that he received for his services during the Battle of Yavin. Back aboard the Star Destroyer, Commander Kai dismisses Jaum’s mining deal as a scam. As punishment for endangering Imperial personnel and trying to scam the Empire, Kai has Jaum tortured by his IT-O Interrogator. With the ship’s main hyperdrive damaged by the explosion, Kai tells him that it will be a long journey back to the nearest Imperial base and that the interrogator droid will be his companion. Stealing Jaum’s green landspeeder, Zarro returns to her family home and tells her dad Arrax that the Empire had taken care of Jaum. When Arrax asks about her friend, she tells him that Chewie had to leave for an important mission. This “mission” turns out to be a family reunion back to the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk. There, in the presence of his family, Chewie presents his child with a bandolier. Shortly later, Chewbacca is picked up by the Millennium Falcon.
