Star Wars: Droids – Volume 2                                         Comics Lot
Covers by: Kilian Plunkett

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise centered on a film series created by George Lucas.  The film series began with Star Wars, released on May 25, 1977. This was followed by two sequels: The Empire Strikes Back, released on May 21, 1980, and Return of the Jedi, released on May 25, 1983. Then more than two decades after the release of the original film, the series continued with a prequel trilogy; consisting of Episode I: The Phantom Menace, released on May 19, 1999; Episode II: Attack of the Clones, released on May 16, 2002; Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, released on May 19, 2005; and  finally the epic saga concluded with Star Wars: The Force Awakens released on December 18, 2015;  Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released on December 18, 2017. Star Wars: The Last Jedi, released on December 18, 2017. And Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was released on December 20, 2019.

In 1995, Dark Horse Comics published the second Star Wars: Droids comic book series. It was an eight-issues featuring the continued misadventures of Artoo-Detoo and See-Threepio. As chronicled in the first, 1994 series, Droids takes place years before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, before the fateful day Luke Skywalker met Artoo and Threepio for the first time, those two troublesome droids had some amazing adventures all their own! And these adventures / misadventures are featured in two new story arcs; “Rebellion” & “Season of Revolt”. … with titles like these, droid mayhem is sure to ensue.

Now… a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… Droids! This time, the two droids have been deputized, and have joined forces with a police robot named Unit Zed to capture a criminal named Olag. After a lengthy chase through space, the droids find that they have followed Olag to his home planet of Nar Shadda, a decadent world which gives Mos Eisley a run for its money in the scum and villainy department…

Star Wars: Droids – Volume 2 (1995) contains:

Olag Greck is a con man and arch criminal, and he’s hiding out exactly where you might expect: among his own, wretched kind on the smuggler planet Nar Shaddaa. But knowing where he is and actually arresting him are two completely different matters as the newly-deputized Artoo-Detoo and See-Threepio discover. Smugglers and criminals have no affection for old droids, particularly when they’re carrying badges! They’re just a couple of used appliances in hot pursuit of a perp, and a world of accomplices stand in their way!

He’s undergone a drastic change of personality and become a charismatic leader of the droid rebellion. But the cavernous halls of Boonda’s palace hold surprises for everyone, and as with all Hutt palaces, not everyone who enters gets out alive!

Some believe heroism is a result of genetics; others, that it is a result of teaching. But for Artoo, it’s the result of a computer virus! Following their fateful encounter with Boonda the Hutt, Threepio and Artoo are acquired by an Ithorian on Nar Shaddaa. When the Ithorian’s herd ship is attacked by alien kidnappers, Artoo is compelled to protect an apparently helpless human.
