Amidala disguised as the handmaiden Padme, joins Qui-Gon, a Jedi Knight Ambassador, Jar Jar Binks, a Gungan from her homeworld, and the droid R2-D2, on a expedition into dangerous Mos Espa in search of the necessary parts. In Mos Espa, Qui-Gon discovers Anakin Skywalker, an extraordinary little slave boy who agrees to pilot a podracer in the impending Boonta Eve Race, his potential winnings including the needed hyperdrive generator for Amidala’s ship. Anakin is strongly attracted to Padme, and on the morning of the race, while Qui-Gon conducts final arrangements with the boy’s master, they approach the podrace hangar…
