A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…
Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise centered on a film series created by George Lucas. The film series began with Star Wars, released on May 25, 1977. This was followed by two sequels: The Empire Strikes Back, released on May 21, 1980, and Return of the Jedi, released on May 25, 1983. Then more than two decades after the release of the original film, the series continued with a prequel trilogy; consisting of Episode I: The Phantom Menace, released on May 19, 1999; Episode II: Attack of the Clones, released on May 16, 2002; Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, released on May 19, 2005; and finally the epic saga concluded with Star Wars: The Force Awakens released on December 18, 2015; Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released on December 18, 2017. Star Wars: The Last Jedi, released on December 18, 2017. And Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was released on December 20, 2019.
Dark Horse Comics presents a sequel to Star Wars – Return of the Jedi. Eight years after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Luke Skywalker has successfully begun the rebirth of the Jedi. Amidst the ruins of Yavin’s fourth moon, he has trained a group of young warriors in the ways of the Force and they are almost ready to go out into the universe as the protectors of the New Republic.
Now… a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… Star Wars – Jedi Academy. In the eight years since the fall of the Empire, Luke Skywalker has trained a new group of Jedi Knights, among them Kirana Ti, the sky-hermit Streen, the scholar and lore-master Tionne, and Luke’s greatest student, the brash Kyp Durron. Once trained, a Jedi must go where he is needed, to defend the New Republic and use the Force to help those in need. And on the harsh world of Corbos, help is desperately needed after mining excavations awaken something ancient, powerful…and hideously evil!
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, On Coruscant, Chief of State Leia Organa Solo receives a desperate message from miners on the harsh world of Corbos. They have awakened something in their excavations and have come under attack. Luke sends Kyp Durron and the young clone Dorsk 82 to investigate and offer whatever assistance they can. But when Kyp and Dorsk 82 arrive on storm-swept Corbos, they find only an empty mining colony… and the scene of a terrible disaster.
Next in issue #2, After receiving a distress call, Kyp Durron and Dorsk 82 come to Corbos — only to find they are too late. The colony is destroyed leaving only evidence of a slaughter… and a monster. Kyp slips away at night to track down the hideous beast. When Dorsk 82 awakens to find him gone, he immediately summons help, but before they can arrive, Kyp, alone, finds the monster…
Next in issue #3, Kyp Durron arrives on the mining world of Corbos only to find the entire colony destroyed. There are no signs of life but Kyp can still hear the psychic outcries of the colonists. He is drawn toward the Leviathan of Corbos, a beast that he finds has devoured the colonists—and yet trapped their minds and spirits. And it’s up to Kyp to defeat the Leviathan on his own…
Finally in issue #4, Kyp Durron thought he had destroyed the Leviathan that laid waste to the mining colony of Corbos. But he was wrong. He killed its offspring and now the mother of the Leviathan is looking to take revenge on the Jedi. Now Kyp and the rest of the Jedi Academy must face a threat even larger than they had first imagined.
