A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…
Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise centered on a film series created by George Lucas. The film series began with Star Wars, released on May 25, 1977. This was followed by two sequels: The Empire Strikes Back, released on May 21, 1980, and Return of the Jedi, released on May 25, 1983. Then more than two decades after the release of the original film, the series continued with a prequel trilogy; consisting of Episode I: The Phantom Menace, released on May 19, 1999; Episode II: Attack of the Clones, released on May 16, 2002; Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, released on May 19, 2005; and finally the epic saga concluded with Star Wars: The Force Awakens released on December 18, 2015; Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released on December 18, 2017. Star Wars: The Last Jedi, released on December 18, 2017. And Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was released on December 20, 2019.
Marvel Comics presents a tale of Princess Leia. Introduced in Star Wars (1977), Leia is princess of the planet Alderaan, a member of the Imperial Senate and… an agent of the Rebel Alliance. While fleeing with vital information of the Empire’s super-weapon, the Death Star, she is captured by the Dark Lord Darth Vader and later imprisoned with-in the Death Star. After much torture and suffering, even to the point of… seeing her home-world destroyed, Princess Leia is rescued by Obi-Wan, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, the Wookiee Chewbacca and the two droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, and they escape aboard Han Solo’s ship, the Millennium Falcon. Later as part of the Rebel Alliance they destroy the Death Star… and continue to fight and resist the Empire.
Now… a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… Princess Leia! When Princess Leia Organa was captured by the Empire as a Rebel spy, she never betrayed her convictions, even in the face of the complete destruction of her home world, Alderaan. When her rescue came, she grabbed a blaster and joined the fight, escaping back to the Rebel Alliance and helping strike the biggest blow against the Empire—the destruction of the Death Star. But in the aftermath of that victory, the question remains…what is a princess without a world?
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, It is a time of both hope and mourning within the Rebellion. While on a secret mission to deliver stolen plans for the Death Star to the Rebel Alliance, Princess Leia Organa was captured by the Galactic Empire and forced to witness the battle station’s power as it destroyed her home planet of Alderaan. With the help of a farmboy pilot and a fast-talking smuggler, Leia escaped her captors and completed her mission. Using the plans, the Alliance was able to destroy the Empire’s ultimate weapon. Having proven themselves a formidable enemy to the Empire, the rebels are in more danger now than ever, leaving them with little time to celebrate their triumph, or lament their loss…
Next in issue #2, Before the destruction of their ultimate weapon, the evil Galactic Empire forced Princess Leia Organa to watch as they extinguished the only planet she’s ever called home. However, the time for mourning is over. With her only companion, Evaan, as well as the ever faithful R2-D2 by her side, Leia has left the protection of the Rebel Alliance to pursue a more personal mission to protect what’s left of her culture and home planet, Alderaan. The rumors that the Empire is hunting every last Alderaanian for reprisal against the Alliance’s actions have sparked a fire within the Princess. Despite the overwhelming bounty on Leia’s head, she has taken it upon herself to travel the galaxy to save what citizens remain…
Next in issue #3, Following the destruction of her home planet of Alderaan, Princess Leia Organa has set out across the galaxy in search of survivors. Leia and her crew, the pilot Evaan and the faithful astromech, R2-D2, have scored their first victory, rescuing a cloister of Alderaanians from Naboo. Orbiting the fiery Outer Rim planet of SULLUST aboard their newly acquired ship, the Lord Juun, the team has just found another cluster of survivors, only these may not be as welcoming as the last. Unbeknownst to the crew, one of their own is feeding their every movement directly into Imperial hands. With the bounties adding up, it’s only a matter of time before the Imperials catch up with her Royal Highness…
Next in issue #4, Leia and her crew, the pilot Evaan and the faithful astromech R2-D2, have scored their second victory, saving the lives of Alderaanians from Sullust. Now fully aware that their ship, the Lord Junn, is harboring an Imperial spy, Leia enlists the help of her new team’s surveillance equipment to root out the traitor. In space, Evaan meets with Sullustan smuggler Nien Nunb, responsible for leading the Alderaanian survivors off of Sullust under the watch of the Empire. With the Empire gaining ground, it’s only a matter of time before they come face-to-face with Her Highness…
Finally in issue #5, The team reaches the planet of Espirion and another cluster of Alderaanians. After learning that Tace, a young girl aboard ”The Lord Junn”, has unwittingly been leaking information about their plans to her sister, Tula, a captive of the Imperials, Her Majesty decides to take action. The Princess agrees to turn herself in to the Empire and their Star Destroyer in exchange for Tula’s safe return. Now, on the surface of Skaradosh, Leia’s allies prepare a daring final rescue…
