A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…
Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise centered on a film series created by George Lucas. The film series began with Star Wars, released on May 25, 1977. This was followed by two sequels: The Empire Strikes Back, released on May 21, 1980, and Return of the Jedi, released on May 25, 1983. The more than two decades after the release of the original film, the series continued with a prequel trilogy; consisting of Episode I: The Phantom Menace, released on May 19, 1999; Episode II: Attack of the Clones, released on May 16, 2002; and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, released on May 19, 2005. And Star Wars: The Force Awakens is scheduled for release on December 18, 2015.
Dark Horse Comics presents a daring Jedi Mission that takes place 5 years prior to Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace. Although Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi, are already legendary for their exploits, their Last Stand on Ord Mantell promises to be the most daring pre-Episode I adventure yet! …Where, despite their Jedi powers, the Jedi Master and his apprentice soon realize that it will take more than the Force and lightsabers to survive!
Now… a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… Qui Gon and Obi Wan – Last Stand Ord Mantell. When a valuable cargo freighter fails to reach its destination on the planet Coruscant, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are sent into deep space to search for the missing ship. Their investigation leads them to the distant, lawless world of Ord Mantell, where everyone carries a grudge and a blaster… and Jedi are less than welcome.
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, After Baroness Omnino of Vena learned that her son’s freighter had failed to reach Coruscant, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan searched for the missing vessel. They discovered that Omnino’s son and the rest of the crew had been slaughtered by Mantellian savrips, so the two Jedi went to the nearby planet Ord Mantell, hoping to find out why the freighter was transporting such menacing creatures. Their investigation has led them to a heavily-guarded moisture plant…
Next in issue #2, Investigating the deaths of a cargo freighter’s crew, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi travel to a moisture plant on Ord Mantell. There, they learn that a ruthless land baron named Taxer Sundown may have had ties with the ill-fated freighter. But when they discover that most of the Ord Mantell colonists are convinced that Taxer Sundown is a Jedi, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan realize that they might be up against more than they can handle!
Finally in issue #3, As the villainous Taxer Sundown prepares to flee Ord Mantell, a young woman is abducted by monstrous Mantellian savrips. Hoping to rescue the woman and capture Sundown, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi are forced to split up, but their separate paths lead to even more unexpected perils, and a face-off against intergalactic slavers. Can the two Jedi bring justice to the lawless world before time runs out?
