Dark Horse unleashes the gargantuan alien bugs from “Starship Troopers” in this four-issue limited series from Jan Strnad (Dalgoda, Sword of the Atom) and Davide Fabbai. This four-parter deals with the redemption of Tom Trask, a screw-up who disagrees with the Federation’s policies and who refuses to follow his friends into the Starship Troopers. Still, there is a hero in Tom – a certain nobility in his recklessness and his obstinance – and events are conspiring to bring that quality out in him as the war between the Federation and the giant alien bugs heats up.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, Being a member of the Starship Troopers is a high honor, leading to self-worth and reward. Three youths find that when aliens attack their home planet, it’s time to take some action… enter the power suits and canine corps.

Next in issue #2, Following the disaster on New Kansas, the trio of friends, Tom, Payson, and Kit, find themselves in a juvenile care facility, monitored by shady government spooks. Tom, haunted by memories of his father’s death at the hands of the bugs, is an emotional wreck, intent upon avoiding Federal Service.

Next in issue #3, Tom Trask is in jail as his best friend Payson gets taken hostage by the bugs on Klendathu. It seems the only way that Tom can help is by signing up for Federal Service and testing out the new power armor that’s been developed to help the troopers squash the bugs. But will Tom be able to reach his friend in time or will poor Payson get his brain sucked out by a Brain Bug?!

Finally in issue #4, Tom Trask suits up in the power armor and rockets down to the bug-filled planet of Klendathu to save his friend Payson. But can one man in power armor take on a planet of bugs? Can Tom reach Payson before his brain is sucked out by the Brain Bug? And if they do make it past the bugs will they make it safely back to the relative safety of deep space?
