He came to Earth in a rocket, a strange visitor from another planet. Now, years later, signals from space could be the beginning of a trail to his home planet Krypton. Can anything stop a Man of Steel from discovering his long-lost heritage? Can anything stand between a Superman and that which he longs for most? How about the most feared and deadly species in the galaxy… Aliens.
The nightmare began when Lexcorp detected an alien distress pod beginning to enter Earth’s atmosphere. When Superman intercepted the pod, it broadcast its pre-programmed call for help from a city in space which was on the verge of destruction. Superman flew to investigate and eventually reached the ruined space city from which the pod had been launched. The city was apparently an offshoot of Krypton – and just as exposure to Kryptonite is deadly to Superman, so did closeness to the city cause him to weaken. He pressed on, however, and managed to even locate a few survivors which he placed in a ship to Earth. Then he discovered the source of city’s troubles: the dreaded, parasitic Aliens. In his weakened state, Superman was vulnerable to their acid-like blood and ripping claws. It was then that he encountered an unlikely savior, a woman named Kara who identified the place as Argo City.
Story/Spoilers
First in book #1, Lexcorps has summoned Clark Kent and Lois Lane to report on their recent discovery. An asteroid is heading toward Earth. No ordinary asteroid either. This asteroid seems to be sending out a distress signal that no one but Clark can hear, and he recognizes it as Kryptonian. Doing his famous duck out and then later returning as Superman, he reveals to Lois and Cheryl Kimbell (The newest CEO of Lexcorps) that there was a signal, and what it was for. Cheryl then loans Superman a ship to help him on the long flight to find out who is on the asteroid, and why they are distressed. When he arrives at the asteroid, he finds it mostly deserted and ravaged. However, he discovers three people who are in need of medical attention. He puts them in his ship and sets the coordinates to Lexcorps space station. Leaving him without a way home. upon further investigation, he comes across a strange looking alien who immediately attacks him. Superman punches it, and the blood from the wound falls into his eyes, blinding him. Even though he is blinded and hurt, he defeats the alien. Much to the surprise of a young blonde girl who saw his fight. She helps the blinded Superman to his feet, and as they walk to safety, she tells him of the alien’s attack on her city, and a little bit of her history. They are on Argo she tells him, and her name is Kara.
Next in book #2, The book opens with Kara leading a blind Superman to where she has been holed up. On the way there, the two are attacked by an alien. Superman fights it, but much to Kara’s surprise, he refuses to kill it. When Kara finds an opening however, she takes it upon herself to kill the alien. As they reach the hideout and the remaining few citizens of Argo City, Kara tells Superman the history of the city, and how the Aliens came to be there. Obviously disappointed, that a man with the power to help, refuses to do what it will take to win. Conveniently, the Aliens wait for Kara to finish her story before they attack. Meanwhile, at the Lexcorps satellite, the ship Superman sent last issue finally arrived. They notice that one of the men has a hole in their chest. As they are trying to figure out why, the remaining two men convulse as baby aliens burst through their chests. They rush away, and the crew chase after them, unknowingly leaving Lois to fight off a full adult sized Alien on her own. As the book closes, we realize that the battle with the Aliens and the citizens of Argo did not go well, as we see Kara and Superman are captured, cocooned, and about to be pounced on by facehuggers.
Finally in book #3, This part opens with the big reveal that Cheryl Kimble is this story’s obligatory idiot, who wants to use the Alien as a weapon. She stops Lois from taking a kill shot at the Alien, leaving it alive for Lois and the crew to take it down again. Back on Argo city, Superman wakes up to find a dead facehugger next to him. After he regroups with Kara, they summarize that both of them have been impregnated. Soon after that, they learn Superman has been impregnated with a queen. The crew back on the space station go after the adult Alien, but find they are also fighting against Cheryl Kimble who sabotages them along the way. Soon, Superman and Kara find a way to get themselves off of Argo City, but that is not good enough for Superman as he also searches for a way to save Kara’s life.
