While John Clayton (Tarzan) and his wife Jane are walking by a New York alley, a portal opens up and spits out a woman in strange clothes. As the woman dies from the injuries of her transport, Tarzan is sucked into the portal and finds himself on a world where more than the clothes are exotic: Venus. There he meets another Edgar Rice Burroughs character, Carson Napier, who also has adapted to being stranded in a savage world and found true love. But Carson’s love, Duare, has been captured by the minions of a cult leader, the Loveking, who gains followers through a narcotic dust. Carson will stop at nothing to rescue Duare, which means Tarzan must help Carson before Carson will help him find a way back to Jane.
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, Carson Napier has come a long way since he first set foot on the exotic world of Amtor, but he still can’t manage to avoid the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. But when things look most bleak, and your wise cracks are falling on deaf ears, the howl of a jungle lord from a faraway green planet can only signal one thing: more trouble!
Next in issue #2, A hair’s-breadth escape from Japal leaves Carson Napier and Tarzan separated at a most dire moment. But as Carson continues to gather information on the bizarre new cult that has overtaken the city, Tarzan is free to round up allies. If only he hadn’t escaped into the waiting claws and web of a ferocious Venusian spider!
Next in issue #3, Having found and befriended the forest dwelling Timals, Tarzan has a plan to descend upon the Valley People and destroy their fields. . . fields of the Flowers of Forget, the pollen of which has the power to turn the strongest mind into a passive fool! And Carson of Venus isn’t one to sit idly by, especially when the Myposans have captured all of the mythical Gerloogans and are slowly dehydrating them to death!
Finally, in issue #4, The final battle is at hand! Carson and Duare manage to change the Loveking’s mind, only to see him murdered by his power mad Myposan first officer! As the pair are thrown into the Myposan arena to face a horde of Venusian beasts, they wish that Tarzan was there with them, to speak to the monsters and send them against their masters. But Tarzan’s got problems of his own, including a floating city collapsing around his ears! Don’t miss the stunning conclusion to Tarzan/Carson of Venus!
