Tarzan has discovered that his presence in certain areas of the world “opens gateways” between parallel dimensions. He has realized that this the reason why he has been able to find and visit strange, lost cities, which have never been discovered by other people. On a quest for knowledge, Tarzan seeks out the possible gateway areas of his past and thus ends up in the lost city of Opar.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, Zora, a rich young woman on an African safari with a treasure map to a ruined city. Bruce, her sexually obsessed, bodyguard… crosses the line and “visits” her tent at night. Zora strikes first and flees half-naked in the jungle…alone. Bruce recovers and pursues Zora into the jungle… and happens upon a hidden city deep into the jungle. Once in the jungle city, Bruce is overcome by ape-like “monsters” and strapped to a blood-stained altar. Soon after, the ape-like “monsters” half-naked immortal high princess named La erotically dances toward Bruce holding a long, sharp dagger. Fresh blood spills over the altar… all the while, hidden away, Zora watches on… in terror.

Also features a 2 back-up Edgar Rice Burroughs’ “Jungle Tales” Tarzan stories adapted by Matt Wagner & Walter Simonson: “Tarzan’s First Love” – Tarzan’s courtship of the female ape Teeka ends in failure when her preference turns to their mutual friend, the male ape Taug. Tarzan wrestles with his humanness versus his ape-ness. “Tarzan: The Scar” – details the origins of Tarzan’s forehead scar, clearly visible in Malibu’s previous Tarzan miniseries, Tarzan the Warrior.

Issue #1 features an additional 32 more pages making for an epic 64 page Tarzan extravaganza, as well as, a “flip” cover giving two “front” covers by Peter Snejbjerg & Teddy Kristiansen & Teddy Kristiansen. (see scan 2 & 3) Awesome!!!

Next in issue #2, Zora’s father employs the help of Jane Clayton to find Tarzan in hopes of rescuing his now-missing daughter. Just as Jane arrives in Africa, Tarzan happens upon the lost jungle city and is caught off guard by the ape-like sub-humans and is struck unconscious. Tarzan later awakens in comfort with La, the immortal high princess of Opar, attending him. Meanwhile, Jane finds the lost city and is unknowingly stalked by the ape-like sub-humans. Beautiful Jane strips down to outwit her stalkers and Tarzan succumbs to seduction, drugs and once again… unconsciousness.

Also features a Tarzan chronology with a Tarzan illustration by Tom Yeates. Awesome!!!

Finally in issue #3, La – the immortal high princess of Opar – still has crush on Tarzan. Once more Tarzan refuses her, So La gives Tarzan a drug that knocks him out. What terrible plans does the love-sick high priestess have for the ape-man? Meanwhile, Jane has also come to Opar – without knowing the fate of her husband! She has come to rescue a lost American girl, Zora, the granddaughter of some or Tarzan’s old acquaintances, Wayne Colt and Zora Drinov (see the original novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs: Tarzan the Invincible). But so far Jane has had no luck on her mission and only lost her clothes. Will she find Zora? – and will she find Tarzan? And who is the dead old lady, called “Mother” by some of the sub-human Oparians, whose body is now dressed in Jane’s clothes? Later, the Lord of the Jungle awakens bound… and ready for battle as the intrigue reaches its climax in this epic conclusion.
