The world of Tek War finds a new kind of highly addictive and illegal drug wrecking a lot of people, and former police detective Jake Cardigan is no exception. Locked up in suspended animation for four years, Cardigan gets an early parole from the penal system. It is hinted that his release has connections to a very Shatner-esque looking Mr. Bascom, who hires Cardigan to search for a missing robotics doctor.
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, After spending 4 years in cryogenic stasis for crimes he is certain he did not commit, Jake Cardigan is mysteriously released. Finding himself lost in a world that has changed since his incarceration, Jake tries and put his life back together. His wife and son are gone, or in hiding, and Jake; fights the strong urge to self-medicate using a digital drug called Tek. Offered a job to locate a missing enigmatic scientist, Jake can already feel the puppet strings manipulating him to return to the life that got him jailed in the first place. And his troubles are only beginning.
Next in issue #2, Jake Cardigan’s release from cryogenic prison has not gone according to his plan. His wife and child are missing, the old Tek hunger still lingers, and death and destruction seem to follow him wherever he goes. The day started with a dead body and the body count keeps growing. Jake’s quest for answers leads him to new friends and old nemeses. But can anyone be trusted? Jake takes one giant step ahead to learn the truth but pays a steep cost.
Next in issue #3, Dr. Leon Kittridge is proving more elusive and more costly to find than Jake Cardigan ever thought. Recovering from a blast that nearly killed him, Jake’s determination to find answers leads him to old acquaintances and deadly consequences. The stakes have gotten considerably higher and new shocking revelations about the secrets of Tek and Jake’s quest for vindication are unveiled.
Next in issue #4, The search for Dr. Leon Kittridge continues! An exhausted Jake Cardigan is nearing the end of his rope dealing with the elusive doctor. Still healing from the explosion that almost ended him, Jake is unrelenting in tracking information and answers. Things are definitely on edge as his search leads him to old friends and new revelations about the world around him.
Next in issue #5, Jake Cardigan’s quest to piece together his fractured life continues in the first part of the series’ second story arc. Jake’s plans are interrupted when a new, deadlier strain of Tek called “Grease” is infecting robots, threatening the Central Net. Reluctant to help, Jake’s hand is forced when he must choose between finding his true memories and saving the Avatar Beth Kittridge from the Tek virus.
Next in issue #6, As a Tek virus rampages through the sector and violently alters the programming of the meks, androids and every other automated system, Jake Cardigan races to find the source before society implodes. However, what he finds can change his life forever.
Next in issue #7, As Jake Cardigan discovers the true source of the Tek virus spreading through the robot world it also uncovers new revelations about his past. The stakes are now higher, the danger more palpable than ever as Jake faces the defining crossroad of his life. Based on the best-selling Tek novels by William Shatner.
Finally in issue #8, It all comes down to this. All the schemes; all the Machiavellian plotting Jake Cardigan finds himself alone on a corporate satellite 365 miles above the Earth. As Jake unravels the mysteries behind the virus that is ravaging Meks and humans alike, the answers force him to face questions about his own past and his own destiny.
