Following a 20-year Terminator hiatus, Dark Horse Comics finally breaks the streak and releases this 3-issue comic series. Kyle Reese somehow survived his encounter with the T-800 and has been held captive up to 2029. He manages to convince Ben Oliver, a friend of his, to go back in time and ensure that his counterpart is released from the captivity.
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, The year is 2029. It’s the year that John Connor, leader of the Resistance, sends Kyle Reese to 1984 to save Sarah Connor from a T-800 with a grudge. But before all of that happened, Kyle Reese was just another man fighting to survive in a world overrun by a technology that had taken on a life of its own and annihilated civilization. Who was Kyle before he met John Connor and was thrust through time to face off with a T-800 and fall for a waitress with a destiny? And who were his comrades in arms? In this three-issue series we’ll meet Kyle Reese and his closest allies as they take on T-600s, T-800s, and HKs, in a world where there is little in the way of food, water, or hope.
Next in issue #2, In the barely-remembered time before the Terminators, the life of a young woman key to humanity’s survival depends on the actions of Kyle Reese in present-day 2029. But Kyle may not live long enough to help Sarah Conner if he and his companions Ben and Paige can’t escape Skynet’s terrifying new weapon-Terminators that look just like people! Guided by information about a hidden Cyberdyne facility, the three friends must brave T-800s, HKs, rogue resistance gangs, and other threats in their search for any advantage against the machines. What they can’t anticipate is the nature of the incredible resource hidden within the facility’s walls!
Finally in issue #3, All the fighting Kyle Reese has lived through has led to this moment, the most important of his life. On the precipice of the mission that will send Kyle to his fate in 1984, his friend Ben has discovered something in 2029 that makes Kyle’s trip a life-changing moment for Ben as well. Will the future be rewritten once again, and can Ben do anything to help prevent Judgment Day?
