Terminator 2: Judgment Day (also promoted as T2) is a 1991 American science fiction action film produced and directed by James Cameron, who co-wrote the script with William Wisher. The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Robert Patrick, Edward Furlong and Joe Morton as its principal cast. It is the sequel to the 1984 film The Terminator, as well as the second installment in the Terminator franchise. Terminator 2 follows Sarah Connor (Hamilton) and her ten-year-old son John (Furlong) as they are pursued by a new, more advanced Terminator: the liquid metal, shapeshifting T-1000 (Patrick), sent back in time to kill John and prevent him from becoming the leader of the human resistance. A second, less-advanced Terminator (Schwarzenegger) is also sent back in time by the “Resistance” to protect John. Terminator 2: Judgment Day was released in the United States on July 3, 1991, by TriStar Pictures. It was a critical success upon its release, with praise going towards the performances of its cast, the action scenes, and its visual effects. Regarded as superior to the original film and one of the best sequels ever made, the film influenced popular culture, especially the use of visual effects in films. Its visual effects saw breakthroughs in computer-generated imagery, including the first use of natural human motion for a computer-generated character and the first partially computer-generated main character. Other sequels followed, including Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines in 2003, Terminator Salvation in 2009, Terminator Genisys in 2015, the Cameron-produced film Terminator: Dark Fate in 2019, and the series Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles, which ran from 2008 to 2009. The Terminator franchise is considered one of the greatest science-fiction franchises of all time.
Now, Marvel Comics presents, T2 – Terminator 2: Judgment Day Comic Adaptation. In the future, the leader of the Resistance against Skynet, John Connor, sends a protector back in the past as he is targeted for termination by a new more highly advanced terminator programmed to kill him when he is still a boy.
Story/Spoilers
Eleven years after the first Terminator failed to kill Sarah Connor, a new Terminator T-1000 is sent back in time to kill Sarah and her son, John Connor, to ensure the safety of Cyberdyne Systems in the future. But a reprogrammed Terminator is also sent back by the future John Connor to the past to protect Sarah and John from the clutches of T-1000. The T-1000, dressed as a police officer, comes across John in a mall, from whom John escapes with the help of the Terminator. Later, they free his mother, Sarah from a hospital of the criminally insane. Terminator tells them about “Judgment Day”, when the machines will wipe out humanity in the future. They go in search of Miles, Skynet’s creator and inform him about the consequences of his work. Miles vows to destroy his research and with their help, breaks into the Cyberdyne building to retrieve the CPU. The police break in and Miles is wounded badly. But he presses the detonator of a bomb and blows up the computers. T-1000 comes into the scene and gives a chase to the trio. The Terminator manages to overturn the liquid nitrogen truck T-1000 is driving. T-1000 comes out frozen and Terminator shatters him with a bullet. But the heat from the factory melts him and reforms his body. But after a brief fight, he falls into a vat of molten metal and melts away. The Terminator does a final act of sacrifice. He lowers himself into the vat so that his technology cannot be used by Skynet.
