Description

Terror on the Planet of the Apes                                Comics Lot
Writers: Gerry Conway & Doug Moench
Artists: Mike Ploog & Frank Chiaramonte
Editors: Chris Ulm & Dan Danko
Cover #1 by: Mike Ploog, Frank Chiaramonte & Katy Liewellyn
Cover #2 by: Mike Ploog & Joseph Allen
Cover #3,4 by: Mike Ploog, Frank Chiaramonte & Katy Liewellyn

The “Planet of the Apes” movies told the compelling tale of a future where apes had gained intelligence, and had risen up to wrest control of the world from the humans who used to keep them as pets. The movies that embodied this vision were so successful that a total of five “Planet of the Apes” movies were eventually made.

Now, Terror on the Planet of the Apes takes the adventure one step further. Following years of fighting, small enclaves of men and apes have begun to learn to live together in peace. But old hatreds and fears are not easily put aside. The Lawgiver, who had long been a stabilizing influence on the village suddenly leaves on an unexplained mission into the Forbidden Zone. The militant ape leader, Brutus, decides the time is right for a revival of the old evils of racism and hatred — and in a horrific parallel to our own history, he organizes a band of hooded riders to bring terror and death to the humans.

Story/Spoilers
First in issue #1, It’s a struggle between the species when Jason comes home to find his home aflame, both his parents murdered and a band of hooded gorillas fleeing the scene.

Next in issue #2, Captured by the mutants, Jason and Alexander are taken to their leaders…giant brains floating in tanks. The pair are sentenced to a battle to the death in the arena-pit, where with one of Brutus’ captured soldiers, they must fight giant mutant monsters!

Next in issue #3, In escaping from the Forbidden Zone while rescuing the Lawgiver, Jason and Alexander accidentally take the dangerous route…down the rapids of a deadly waterfall.

Finally in issue #4, Terror on the Planet of the Apes transports you into a bizarre and imaginative saga involving various ape-tribes, giant disembodied ‘brains-in-jars’, mutant monsters, an alien spaceship, flying monkey-demons and bionic apes.
