The Blair Witch Project is a 1999 American supernatural horror film written, directed and edited by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez. It is a fictional story of three student filmmakers – Heather Donahue, Michael C. Williams, and Joshua Leonard – who hike into the Black Hills near Burkittsville, Maryland, in 1994 to film a documentary about a local legend known as the Blair Witch. The three disappear, but their equipment and footage are discovered a year later. The purportedly “recovered footage” is the film the viewer sees. Myrick and Sánchez conceived of a fictional legend of the Blair Witch in 1993
In 1785, Elly Kedward was driven out of the Township of Blair in North Central Maryland. A year later, her accusers started disappearing under mysterious circumstances. Fearing Elly had cursed them all, the people of Blair fled, abandoning their town and giving birth to a legend. This one-shot comic works in conjunction with the unearthed documentary shot by a film crew who never returned to relate their experience. It fleshes out the mystery, relating the frightening stories of other people who have had run-ins with the mysterious, mythical Blair Witch, a new staple of modern horror.
The Blair Witch Project contains:
“Elly Kedward’s Curse!” 8 pages
Artist: Tommy Lee Edwards
Letterer: John Workman
A woman named Elly Kedward seeks refuge in a small town called Blair. She is suffering from a horrific curse that causes misfortune and other terrible occurrences. She lives in the town without trouble for a period of time until things go awry and she is dragged into court under accusations of witchery. She is deemed a witch and dragged out into the wilderness to be left for dead. Once left out there, she allows the curse that she has been holding back to consume her, birthing the Blair Witch.

“She Needs Me: Coffin Rock” 7 pages
Artist: Guy Davis
Letterer: Sean M. Konot
A young girl named Robin is possessed or tricked by the Blair Witch into getting lost in the woods. The Witch continually speaks to the child, offering her guidance in hiding from the search parties. After three days, the search party stumbled across Robin, who is perched on a rock singing to herself. Using the Witch’s power, Robin paralyzes all the men in the search party and then creates a gory sacrifice using their bodies. The Witch sends Robin back home with a strange story.

“Left Alone: The Rustin Park Killings” 7 pages
Artist: Bernie Mireault
A lone father of one is plagued by the Blair Witch. Pushing at his sanity, she eventually coaxes him into kidnapping and sacrificing children to her. She does this by telling him that all he has to do is what she wants and she’ll leave him and his son alone. At the end of his murder spree, the father turns himself in out of guilt and his son is found in a catatonic state by the police sometime later.
