The Fly is a 1986 American science-fiction horror film directed and co-written by David Cronenberg. Produced by Brooksfilms and distributed by 20th Century Fox, the film stars Jeff Goldblum, Geena Davis and John Getz. Loosely based on George Langelaan’s 1957 short story of the same name, the film tells of an eccentric scientist who, after one of his experiments goes wrong, slowly turns into a fly-hybrid creature.

And the horror of the Fly continues… IDW Publishing presents a five-issue comic book miniseries titled The Fly: Outbreak. The story is a direct sequel to the events of The Fly II (1989) movie, and features Seth Brundle’s son, Martin, inadvertently causing a transgenic outbreak while attempting to cure Anton Bartok, to whom he’d previously transferred his mutant genes at the end of The Fly II movie.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, “The Book of Transgenesis”, Years ago, a scientist had a horrific accident when he tried to use his newly invented teleportation device and became a human-fly hybrid. Now his almost-human son continues to search for a cure for the mutated genes…  

Next in issue #2, “Quarantine”, Years ago, a scientist had a horrific accident when he tried to use his newly invented teleportation device and became a human-fly hybrid. His almost-human son continued the search for a cure, but those efforts may have led to something much, much worse than the original tragedy…

Next in issue #3, “Metamorphosis”, Years ago, scientist Seth Brundle had a horrific accident when he tried to use his newly invented teleportation device and became a human-fly hybrid. His almost-human son, Martin has continued the search for a cure, but those efforts may have led to something much, much worse than the original tragedy with several dozen people exposed to the diseased blood of a hybrid. Now, Martin and the others are under quarantine, and some are showing signs of infection…

Next in issue #4, “All Hell Breaks Loose”, Years ago, scientist Seth Brundle had a horrific accident when he tried to use his newly invented teleportation device and became a human-fly hybrid. His almost-human son, Martin has continued the search for a cure, but those efforts may have led to something much, much worse than the original tragedy with several dozen people exposed to the diseased blood of a hybrid. After weeks of quarantine in an abandoned hospital, everyone except Martin has transformed into hybrids and begun to escape…

Finally in issue #5, “The Book of Revelation”, Years ago, scientist Seth Brundle had a horrific accident when he tried to use his newly invented teleportation device and became a human-fly hybrid. His almost-human son, Martin has continued the search for a cure, but those efforts have led to several dozen lab workers being exposed to the diseased blood of a hybrid. After weeks of quarantine in an abandoned hospital, each person has transformed into a hybrid seeking to escape and loose vengeance on the world…
