The Phantom of the Opera is a novel by French author Gaston Leroux. It was first published as a serial in Le Gaulois from 23 September 1909 to 8 January 1910, and was released in volume form in late March 1910 by Pierre Lafitte. The novel is partly inspired by historical events at the Paris Opera during the nineteenth century. In the 1880s, in Paris, the Palais Garnier Opera House is believed to be haunted by an entity known as the ‘Phantom of the Opera’, or simply the ‘Opera Ghost’, after a stagehand named Joseph Buquet is found hanged. It has been successfully adapted into various stage and film adaptations, most notable of which are the 1925 film depiction featuring Lon Chaney, and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1986 musical. Additionally, the story of the “Phantom of the Opera” has been published in various forms from childrens to young adults books, collector’s editions, hardcover, softcover, unabridged, abridged, and lastly, but not leastly… comics.

Now Eternity Comics presents, The Phantom of the Opera, an abridged adaptation of the classic tale of terror by Gaston Leroux. This timeless tale was scripted/adapted by Al Hewetson with art by Jesus Duran. There is also an additional back-up story entitled, “The Thing in the Black Dress”, script by Al Hewetson with art by Jesus Suso Rego. All presented in Glorious Black & White.  Awesome!!
