Description
The Photo-Journal Guide To Comics (A-Z) Hardcover Set
Compiled by: Ernst & Mary Gerber
Photographs and Text by: Ernst Gerber
Welcome to the lost world of Gold and Silver Age comic books. 1935-1965. For the first time this underrated and unknown artform can be viewed by more than a few lucky collectors that can afford to possess even a few of these scarce works of art.
Though Billions were printed through the 1950’s, less than 1% remain today. After all, we considered comic books were for children to be read and thrown away (by our mothers). Later we considered they were the cause of juvenile delinquency, and the resultant witch hunt in the mid 1950’s for those vile books made them a lost world of unappreciated art.
We forget that most comic books were written and drawn by adults, many times to satisfy their own visions and talents, and not necessarily for the satisfaction of the kids that would buy them. Most of us between the ages of 30 to 60 were somewhat influenced by comic books. Scan through this book and see for the first time in dozens of years what you can recall about that lost world, or what you might have missed.
