A sequel to the 1982 film Tron, it is directed by Joseph Kosinski, produced by Tron director Steven Lisberger and written by Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, based on a story by Horowitz, Kitsis, Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal. The cast includes Tron veterans Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner, who reprised their roles as Kevin Flynn and Alan Bradley, as well as Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Beau Garrett, Michael Sheen and James Frain. The story follows Flynn’s son Sam (Hedlund) who responds to a message from his long-lost father and is transported into a virtual reality called the Grid, where Sam, his father and the algorithm Quorra (Wilde) stop the malevolent program CLU from invading the human world…
More than a place where he can race light cycles, it’s a place where he can build and test environments only limited by his imagination. But the Grid is far more complex than even its creator realizes, and even Flynn can’t be in two places at once. Showcasing a key time of the mythology of the Tron world, Tron Betrayal shows the early days of the Grid, and the first appearances of the heroes and villains that were seen in Tron: Legacy.
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, Following the events of the original Tron, the year is 1983 and Kevin Flynn is now in charge of Encom. He’s built it into the largest videogame company in the world. But that’s not all Kevin has accomplished – he’s also secretly built the Grid, a digital world filled with living programs! As this new world develops a life of its own, Flynn is going to first need the help of an old friend, a security program named Tron.
Finally in issue #2, The Grid is in danger! Created by Kevin Flynn to be a place where the only limit was his imagination, the Grid evolved into more than Flynn could have conceived. As the world of the Grid and the real-world change around him, Flynn finds that what was once his digital playground is growing into a dark and dangerous place. He’ll have to make a decision that affects the lives of not only Tron and the other programs on the Grid, but the people in his life as well. Flynn’s going to have to learn how to be in two places at once, and even that may not be enough!
