Inspired by the Classic, Ground-Breaking, Cutting-Edge, Animated Sci-Fi Film of the Year of 1982 and the Hit Video Game!
Relive the adventure… the nostalgia of 1982’s “Tron“. “Tron” is an American science fiction film released by Walt Disney Productions. The film was written and directed by Steven Lisberger, based on a story by Lisberger and Bonnie MacBird. The film stars Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner, David Warner, Cindy Morgan, and Barnard Hughes. At the time, Tron’s use of backlit animation that was combined with computer animation and live action set it apart from any other science fiction movie previously made… making “Tron” a truly ground-breaking, bar-raising movie event. Over time, “Tron” developed into a cult film and eventually spawned a franchise, which consists of multiple video games, comic books and an animated television series. A sequel titled Tron: Legacy directed by Joseph Kosinski was released on December 17, 2010, with Bridges and Boxleitner reprising their roles, and Lisberger acting as producer.
Exploring the fast-paced action from the hit film and video game, plus the impact of experiencing the cyber-world on the human psyche, Tron, the six-issue mini-series, from Slave Labor Graphics starts a thrilling new chapter in the Tron saga.
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, Jet Bradley, son of the original Tron programmer Alan Bradley, has recently escaped the computer world. But his experiences within cyberspace have left him emotionally scarred – vivid nightmares plague him, and he’s become paranoid and unstable. He shuns technology wherever possible, leaving him effectively crippled in the modern world. And now something within the computer world wants him back.
Issue #1 features an awesome “Tron” art wrap-a-round cover by Louie De Martinis.
Next in issue #2, The computer world is at war: the tyrannical Master Control Program has returned to power and seeks the absolute domination of the Free Systems. Now Jet Bradley, accused murderer and fugitive from reality, finds himself leading the rebellion against this oppressive regime. But as the battle rages, Jet’s tenacious grip on sanity weakens.
Next in issue #3, Trapped in the digital realm, at war with the Master Control Program, and now plagued by nightmarish visions of talking rabbits, Jet Bradley fights for his sanity as his descent into cyberspace takes a turn for the bizarre.
Next in issue #4, The struggle between Red and Blue culminates with our hero leading one final assault against the stronghold of the MCP. But as Jet’s reality crumbles around him, will he still be able to lead the Free Systems to victory?
Next in issue #5, As he struggles against his shifting memories and the malevolent apparition of a rabbit named Clarence, Jet Bradley orders the Blue Army to distract the forces of the Master Control Program with a frontal assault. During the battle, Jet employs his abilities as a User to allow Mercury and himself to slip behind enemy lines. Attempting to halt the coming confrontation between Jet and the MCP, Clarence invades Jet’s mind, Clarence invades Jet’s mind, and before Jet can reject the mental intrusion, mercury is killed. As planned, Jet can reject the mental intrusion, mercury is killed. As planned, Jet encodes his identity disk with the Tron Legacy Code, a piece of programming that has been integrated into his subroutines and supposedly capable of ending the threat of the MCP. Unfortunately, Jet’s attempt to use the code is derailed by the mysterious appearance of another Jet Bradley…
Finally in issue #6, Jet Bradley’s adventures in The Computer World! Are coming to a fever-dream inducing conclusion. What is the fate of The Computer World!?
