Continuing an epic story that has been the foundation of much of today’s modern science fiction and apocalyptic storytelling, War of the Worlds: Second Wave picks up where the books and the movies left off. Mankind held the first invasion back. But then the second wave came… Miles was an ordinary man living an ordinary suburban life, but alien invaders took his home and his wife away. Now that they’re back, how have they grown immune to mankind’s defenses? And what key role does Miles play in the invasion? What’s his link to this extra-terrestrial threat?

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, Picking up where the novel, all the other adaptations, the movies, the radio show, left off! When they first came to Earth, they nearly won… mankind was saved only by happenstance. Now the threat is back and seemingly unstoppable. How have the invaders adapted to the situation? In the face of cosmos-spanning destruction and horror, one man must find a way to survive the coming of another apocalypse.

Next in issue #2, “Therapy”, Miles struggles to survive in the aftermath of the return of the aliens. Banding together with his best friend Shane, they witness the world being torn to pieces once more. Will they find shelter, or survivors, in the underground subways of the city? Or only death? And what is Miles’ secret, and the tragedy of his lost marriage and his disturbed past? Why does he feel like he’s the center of it all?

Next in issue #3, “Remedy”, The battle for survival in the wake of the aliens’ return continues! With a young girl’s life imperiled, Miles leads a team of survivors into a small rural town which has descended into chaos and anarchy. Ruled by a corrupt lawman who hates outsiders, things become even more perilous when one of them starts turning on their own. With danger like this, who’s worrying about the aliens!

Next in issue #4, “Desperation“, The battle for survival in the wake of the aliens’ return continues! With a young girl’s life imperiled, Miles leads a team of survivors into a small rural town which has descended into chaos and anarchy. Ruled by a corrupt lawman who hates outsiders, things become even more perilous when one of them starts turning on their own. With danger like this, who’s worrying about the aliens!

Next in issue #5, “New America” Miles finds the road to survival in this new alien-infested world is getting more and more difficult. His fight to get a little girl some insulin in a neighboring town has turned into a fight with the local authorities, while some of Miles’ group turns on each other and the price is… murder! Meanwhile, a hint at what the aliens have planned in this new attack on the planet begins to unfold!

Finally in issue #6, “Smokin’ Red Head”, Tensions mount as Miles and Duke lead a ragged team of survivors through a tripod-infested wasteland on a blitzkrieg, pulse-pounding chase! How have the aliens discovered the technology that has brought them back? And what role does Miles play now that revelations are arriving about his history and background with the aliens?
